The painting represents the scene of The Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples, as it is told in the Gospel of John,
13:21. Leonardo has depicted the consternation that occurred among the Twelve Disciples when Jesus announced

A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Created by Georges Suerat, it shows the relaxed atmosphere
of people on a lazy Sunday afternoon in an island. This painting is an excellent example of pointillism, where many
dots are joined together to create an image.
Cafe Terrace at Night Painted by Vincent Van Gogh, this painting
shows an everyday setting in bright colors. A simple dinner at a
cafe along a street is well-depicted in this simple painting.

Plato and Aristotle walking in
the middle along with other
philosophers on the sides. It is
now located in the Vatican.
The Card Players is a series of oil paintings by the French Post-Impressionist artist Paul Czanne. Painted during
Czanne's final period in the early 1890s, there are five paintings in the series. The versions vary in size, the number
of players, and the setting in which the game takes place.
Abanindranath Tagore was the principal artist
and creator of "Indian Society of Oriental Art". He
was also the first major exponent
of Swadeshi values in Indian art, thereby
founding the influential Bengal school of art,
which led to the development of modern Indian
painting.
The Arabian Nights, Abanindranath successfully
uses compositional devices from Mughal
miniature paintings.

the artist made a
mark for himself with
his larger-than- life
paintings filled with
mythology and Sufi
spirituality.
Amrita Sher-Gil was an eminent Indian painter, sometimes
known as India's Frida Kahlo.Born to a Punjabi Sikh father
and a Hungarian-Jewish mother, she is today considered an
important woman painter of 20th-century India, whose legacy
stands on a par with that of the Masters of Bengal
Renaissance. She is also the "most expensive" woman painter
of India.
The painting shows three colourfully dressed women
contemplating a destiny they are unable to change. Amrita
Sher-Gil did not sensualise her women but instead portrayed
them as facing great adversity yet having the spirit to
transcend a destiny that they were unable to change.
Gypsy Woman and Family
A gypsy woman sings with a Sitar while her children sitting around
is an agonising picture of poverty and survival.
The sadness and vulnerability shown in the faces of children is
beyond words.
Raja Ravi Varma ~ An Exquisite Indian Oil Painter
An illustrious Indian artist, Raja Ravi Varmas unique style of
painting has inspired and influenced many artists around the
globe.
Thota Vaikuntam (born 1942) is an Indian painter. His paintings capture simple
lifestyle of villagers like the paddy fields, toddy pots on shoulders of men, the
household chores, temple rituals etc. His drawings range from stark charcoal on
paper, transparent washes and pencil drawings.
