Abstract

President Rodrigo Duterte has boasted about killing people himself, and said that
he would fatten the fish in Manila Bay with the bodies of 100,000 dead criminals.
Human rights advocates say these extrajudicial killings target the poor often, the victims
are unarmed, low level drug users, whose individual deaths have little impact on the
systemic drug problem in our country. As a student we are just paying respect the rules
and decisions of our President, the main solution here is to stop using drugs and change
our life. In this paper we will discuss the effects on war on drugs to the youth
specifically how the students behave if they use this kind of drugs, how they think and
how this can effect their studies and their family bonding.

Introduction

Lema(2016)stated that less than two months in office. Philippines president Rodrigo
Duterte is getting high marks from the business community for policies that could engineeran
economic surge and companies say they are making new investment as a result. While
Duterte may be getting headlines for a body war against drug dealers and users, less attention
has been paid to one of Asias few economic success stories.

Almendra(2016) stated that its just past 10pm on a Friday night in the Philippine
capital of manila. A crowd is gathered around police tape on a quiet street at the
center is a man named Redentor Manalang, who is slumped over the back of his
sidecar motorcycle, a gunshot wound to his head. The unknown assailants sped away on
their own motorcycle before the police got there. They left a blood-splattered cardboard
sign next to his body. It reads I am a drug pusher. Do not copy me

Chandran(2016) stated that government led extrajudicial killings are endangering

rule of law in the Philippines, but the campaign is unlikely to stop anytime soon amid
the President widespread popularity and a weak political opposition. More than 1,900
people have been killed in a nation-wide crackdown on drug peddlers and traffickers
since President Rodrigo Duterte entered office seven weeks ago.

Iyengar(2016) stated that at around 11pm on July 25, Restituto Castro received
an anonymous text message asking him to leave his house in the Caloocan district of
northern Manila and come to the corner of the MacArthur Highway. Castro, 46 and a
fther of four, was neither a drug lord nor a pusher. He never brought grams of shabu.
He used to buy the drug on behalf of his friends in exchange for a bump or two.

Ting(2016) stated that holiday makers like to spend their time away from work
free from worldly careers. Images of extrajudicial killings and blood-soaked bodies lying
in the street can take the fizz: right of that poolside mujido that does not appear to be
a concern for the government of Philippine Rodrigo Duterte, whose anti-drug war has
been more the 3,000 people killed by police and vigilantes in less than three months.

Diaola(2016) stated that in Dutertes early months as leader, installed by a record

16 million voters, about 3,500 people have died-almost half were killed in police
operation. Duterte team, however, tried washing its hands over killing outside police
function.

3
Avila(2016) stated that when President Rodrigo Duterte exposed the fire generals
who are considered protectors of drug lords. There are accusations in this all-out war
against illegal drugs, however the Filipino people are applauding President Duterte for
his courage and now even those who disliked President Duterte during the campaign are
now praying for the President safety.

Dagooc(2016) stated that while some sectors are giving the current
administrations fight against illegal drugs a thumbs down, tourism stakeholders on the
other hand are keeping their hopes up that his particular campaign would have a
favorable impact in the long run.

Tordesillas(2016) stated that do you feel sick by daily images on TV and

newspaper of people killed lying lifeless on the sidewalks covered with newspapers or
plastic with only their dirty feet and worn out rubber slippers seen? And of course near
the corpse, the cardboard sign Drug pusher ako huwag tularan, which has now become
a standard accessory in President Dutertes war against illegal drugs. Studies have shown
that being exposed to traumatic images is harmful.

Lucie(2016) stated that those who wants to see the so called war on drugs
fought with greater vigour might like to turn their attention to the Philippines at
present. President Duterte is doing exactly that fighting the war on drugs with all means
available. The trouble is that many of the means he is using are illegal. The Philippines
are becoming, as one archbishop puts it, a killing field.

Conclusion and Recommendation

We the 10-crimson students of Saint Joseph College recommend that each

students should be study about on war on drugs and its effects to the youth. We
recommend also that every school should have a symposium about war on drugs
and its effects to the society and about the illegal drugs. They should know what
illegal drugs is and what is the positive effects of it and the negative effects of it.
They should know the importance of being healthy and the importance of purity.
They should know what is the effects of it in our internal and external body. We
recommend this idea because we want to aware the students what the effects of
using illegal drugs and to aware them in war on drugs.
