Government Medical Colleges in Maharashtra.

There are 25 government medical colleges in Maharashtra, 23 are affiliated to Maharashtra

University of Health Sciences, Nashik. Of the remaining 2, one is Rajiv Gandhi Medical College
& Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital which is affliated to Bombay University. The other one is
Tata Memorial Centre which is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (Univ.) is a Deemed
University. A common entrance test is conducted every year and the seats are allotted by merit and
centralized counseling.

There are 2200 MBBS seats and 1680 PG seats available for admission in the government
medical colleges in Maharashtra.

MH-CET for MBBS / PG Courses
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) is conducted for the purpose of determining
the eligibility / merit, for admission of Maharashtra local candidates to full-time courses of UG /
PG in medical colleges within the State of Maharashtra.

Only Maharashtra locals are eligible for selection of Government seats in Government, Aided,
Private Un-aided Minority / Non-minority institutions through DMER.

The MHCET entrance examination is the prerequisite for admission into MBBS / PG Courses
offered in the Government / Private medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra for the eligible
students.
