Position: Compliance and Risk Officer


Location: Stanmore, UK.
Salary: Competitive, dependent upon experience
Accountable to: Operations Manager and Office Bearers

Hours: Part time, 2-3 days a week. In addition, the post holder will be expected to
adopt a flexible working policy to work alongside Office Bearers and Heads of
Departments if need be.

Purpose of the role:

The Compliance and Risk Officer develops, implements and co-ordinates the charitys risk
management strategy and Business Continuity plans, and ensures that all our systems,
processes and documentation comply fully with all laws and regulations. The role may suit
anyone who has previous experience in a similar role, or a past finance specialist, senior
accountant or quality assurance expert.
Position Requirements:
Commitment to the Vision, Mission and Values of The World Federation.

Educated to degree level.

Proven track record of formulating and implementing risk management strategies and operating
practices

Proven change management and project management skills

Experience of undertaking internal audits, and writing, maintaining and monitoring business
continuity plans.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information verbally
and in writing.

Methodical and organised approach to planning, implementation and record keeping for all
activities with a high level of attention to detail.

Strong competence in using Microsoft Office applications.

Able to work with diverse groups of staff, volunteers and clients.

Experience in working/volunteering for a Non-Profit organization is desirable.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and co-ordinate the charitys risk management strategy. Develop and
maintain a Risk Register.

Develop, implement, test and maintain Business Continuity plans for the charity and its services
as necessary

Develop, implement, and monitor a Social Media Policy.

Create action plans which show how these policies and plans will be implemented and undertake
regular audits to demonstrate that they are effective

Ensure that relevant staff and volunteers understand the policies and are given assistance when
needed.

Ensure that all systems (IT and paper) for holding and processing data are compliant with
prevailing legislation. E.g. Data protection policy and the new GDPR regulations

Ensure that all systems, processes, due diligence and documentation meet the required level of
details on all grants provided including those to relief agencies. Follow up and monitor reporting
matters with the individuals / organisation in receipt of donations

Ensure that all work is delivered within the budgetary and resource constraints of the Charity.

Ensure that the Charity is in compliant with all laws and regulations including those governed by
regulatory bodies. This includes the Charity Commissions and any NGO related regulations.
These represent a definition of the main function and requirements for this position but are not an
exhaustive list of duties. The post holder will be required, in addition, to perform any other duties
that might reasonably be considered a responsibility of the post.
