unitwillsufferextremelyhighvibrationsasaresultofcompressorproblemsduringstartingwhichcouldeven
resultindamagetoaxialcompressorblading(stationaryandrotating).Theconditionthatcanoccurduring
startingandshutdownoftheaxialcompressoriscommonlyreferredtoassurgeand/orstallandoccurswhen
theairflowthroughthecompressordoesn'tmoveasitshouldasifit'sblocked.Thisistrueofmostaxial
compressors,notjustthoseofGEdesignheavydutygasturbines.
Thelimitswitchesonthebleedvalvesaredesignedtobeactuatedwhenthebleedvalvesisfullyopen.When

combustionmodeatlowerloadsthanwouldotherwisebepossible.So,withoutbeingabletoseethelogic
drivingbothsignals(L3CPRAHandL3CPRERR)it'snotpossibletosayforsureexactlywhatisbeing
attemptedwiththosetwoconditionsdrivingL3BHF3.Theotherparallelstring,L3BHF1andL3BHF2are
blockedfromactuatingL3BHF3below95%speedbytheL14HSlogic,so,itjustaddstothecomplicationand
muddlingoftherungandit'suseintheL3BHSTCKrung.It'sunderstandablethattheturbineshouldnotbe
startediftheambientpressuretransmittersarenotworkingproperly(theL3CPRAHfunction,Ibelieve),but

therung)putaltrue(NO)aroundthemwhicheffectivelydisablesthispartofthefireprotectionsystemlogic.
Iftherearenophysicalwiresconnectedtothediscreteinputsdrivingl33cl1andl45cp1thenthesesignals
shouldhavejustbeenremovedfromtheapplicationcode(freeingupacoupleofdiscreteinputsforpossible
usageatsomeothertime)anduncomplicatingthestartcheck"logic."But,again,thisisnotpertheBelfort
wayso,complicateandconfusedrivesthemess.
