1. Overview
Thecus Technical Support stuff may need to logic the NAS for checking system. Therefore we
need your help to publish your NAS on the internet.
DD-WRT is a famous open source firmware for Router, here we use an IP router with
DD-WRT for demo.
In computer security, a demilitarized zone, named after the military usage of the
term and normally abbreviated to DMZ. The purpose of a DMZ is to add an
additional layer of security to an organization's Local Area Network (LAN); an
external attacker only has access to equipment in the DMZ, rather than the whole of
the network.
In IP router, the only setting is in DMZ session, fill in IP (192.168.1.100) and apply
setting. This is the easiest way, however, we WONT suggest user to setup NAS as
DMZ for security issue. We would like recommend as by port forwarding.
Setup port forwarding function in IP router, we need to open a TCP port 22 & 80 &
443 to NAS WAN IP.
Tomato is another famous open source firmware for router. Here we have a demo with
Tomato 1.28 firmware.
WAN: 172.16.66.100
LAN: 192.168.2.254
Connect WAN to your IP router.

In IP router, the only setting is to check DMZ server and fill in IP (172.16.66.100) in
WAN setup page. This is the easiest way, however, we WONT suggest user to
setup NAS as DMZ for security issue. We would like recommend as by port
forwarding.
In [Port Forwarding / Port Triggering] setting page, click Add Custom Service to
add service.
After you have apply an account and a host (ex: thecushelpme.no-ip.org), please fill in
the information in the DDNS session in the router setup page.
4. Appendix A
Here is a screen shot of WAN setting. We would suggest using WAN port to connect to your
router.
Please check the IP, which is to filled in port forwarding session in routers setting page.
