Medical Camp at Agathi

IQRAA International Hospital And Research Centre, Calicut, organized a two-day super
specialty medical camp focusing on Cardiology, Neurology and Nephrology at Rajiv
Gandhi Speciality Hospital on 11th and 12th February, 2017. The camp marked the
completion of two years of providing health care services in Lakshadweep. Dr. Tariq
Thomas, IAS, Honble Collector of UT of Lakshadweep, inaugurated the camp at a
function presided by Dr. PC. Anver, Executive Director of IQRAA at Panchayath stage,
Agatti on 10.02.17. Various cultural events by RGSH staff members were also held as part
of the celebration of second anniversary.

A total of 419 people from various islands utilized the services of IQRAA in the whole
session of the camp. Of these, 200 attended the camp for neurology ; 160 for cardiology
and 59 for nephrology. Six doctors and sixteen paramedics were deputed to RGSH to
serve the patients and for the smooth conduct of the camp. An ECHO machine, ECG
machine, EEG machine, Hematology Analyzer and a Biochemistry Analyzer were
brought from IQRAA for the benefit of the poor and needy patients. All expenses towards
the organization of the camp including the cost of medicines supplied in the camp were
met by IQRAA.

Doctors expressed their gratitude to IQRAA management and Lakshadweep


administration for the warm hospitality and for the right way of conducting the camp so
that all the needy patients could utilize the services. Also doctors pointed out the need for
anti tobacco awareness program as the tobacco usage is found as rampant among the
islanders.

MOBILE MEDICAL UNIT

Iqraa hospital has started a Mobile Medical Unit to deliver primary health care services
including Doctors consultation, Nursing care, Basic laboratory investigations to remote
areas. The unit is a bus equipped with all the primary facilities, which will ply towards
needy and remote areas. The unit is equipped with facilities that could do basic kidney
screening helping in the early detection of renal failure. There would be equipment used
for the assessment of cholesterol , BP, BMI etc. that are indicative of lifestyle diseases. The
unit is served by a doctor, four laboratory technicians and two nurses.

FRIDAY MERCYCLINIC

Friday Mercy Clinic is one of our outreach services in which the expertise of specialist
doctors is used for the needy gratis on Fridays. Patients can avail of free and discounted
consultation, 25% discount for lab and radiology investigation, and hospital charges
depending on their financial status. Very poor patients will get free medicine from our
drug bank.

Jan Aushadhi Pharmacy

Pradhan Mathri Jan Aushadhi Yojana is an initiative by the Government of India. It is


meant to ensure the availability of high quality generic medicines at lower coast all over
the country. Jan Aushadhi program is thus a minimal profit scheme. Jan Aushadhi scheme
was started in 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in association with Central
Pharma Public Sector Undertaking. Generic medicines are non-branded drugs that have
the equivalent quality as that of the expensive, branded medicines.
IQRAA was granted permission to open a Jan Aushadhi pharmacy in this year. Usually
private hospitals are not interested in opening Jan Aushadhi pharmacy as it is less
profitable. This will be the sixth Pharmacy under Jan Aushadhi Yojana in Kozhikode
district.

New Department
Neonatology: better care from the beginning

Neonatology is a branch of medicine dealing with premature conditions of newborns. It is


a subspecialty of Paediatrics. Premature babies are infants who are born 37 weeks before
its due date in mothers uterus. Premature babies may have several health problems.
These deficiencies, however, dont constitute illness, though the situation needs extreme
care. So, neonatologists are well trained doctors in baby caring.

Babies in IQRAA receives comprehensive and high quality care from our expert team
under the leadership of Dr. Shabeer MP. Dr. Shabeer has undergone extensive training in
newborn care from the prestigious CMC, Vellore, and has CDM in Neonatology.
His team consists of Dr. Dhanya Jayaraj (MD, DCH), Dr. Ganesh GN (DCH, DNB) and Dr
Nidal. K (DCH). IQRAA is fortunate to have one of the best pediatric surgeons in the state.

Dr. Akbar Sharif serves us by giving expert surgical intervention and care.
Moreover the doctors are supported by a dedicated and skilful team of neonatal nurses
and paramedics.

Neonatal intensive care unit

Our team of neonatologists, paediatricians and intensive care nurses provide round the
clock monitoring of the modern equipment including radiant warmers, LED phototherapy
unit, dedicated neonatal ventilators including HFOV, bubble CPAP units, invasive and
noninvasive monitors.
The unit is geared to look after extremely preterm neonatal requiring intensive care, at a
minimum cost. There would also a follow-up program for sick and premature neonatal
requiring NICU care for the early identification and intervention for neo developmental
durability.
