RESPECT IS

Respect can be shown or interpreted is many different ways. Many believe respect

is doing unto others what you would want done to you or being kind and helpful

which are both completely true. Any time you are kind to someone it shows that you have

respect for them and that you see than as a human and not someone lower than you.

Respect is earned and given, you cant expect someone to just give you respect without

showing them any. Last year I was a T.A. for a teacher that I had never had but my best

friend was in his class so I decided to be his T.A.. Sitting in that class every day I got to

notice how everyone acted and you wouldnt believe how rude and disrespectful these

students were. I told the teacher one day that when Im in any class and the teacher is

talking theres not one person talking because we respect our teacher enough to give him

or her that time to talk. He made me tell his whole class what I had just told him and they

all kind of gave me dirty looks as if I was the one being disrespectful. I told them that

when our teacher sees that we are listening and focused on what their saying, we would

get rewarded. Granted this story is more of what disrespect looks like but its also what

showing respect looks like by what I was doing, which was showing to show the other

students that being respectful has its advantages and that by respecting your teacher you

earn their respect and then you get to goof off every once in awhile because your teacher

now knows that you are listening and trying to do your work. Now that is respect.
