SATELITES DE COMUNICACIONES
MS:

Sobrevivi a cinco golpes

UNIDOS
** CANADA. 6160-, Nov 28 at 0634, no carriers at all from the CBC stations. Walt
Salmaniw in BC near CKZU had noted its absence as of 1640 UT Nov 27, to which
Colin Newell, also in Victoria, replied ``Gone for around 6-7 days now. They've had
a PS [power supply?] and modulation issue for weeks now. I'll check with my
technical contact``.
But I`m not hearing anything either from CKZN Newfoundland. Hope this is mere
coincidence and temporary. Both of them had been slightly below 6160, a variable
few Hz apart from each other (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 9535 // 9710, Nov 28 at 0530, RHC does it again, keeping Spanish
frequencies on air late but in unscheduled English, also // 5040, 6000, 6060, 6100,
6165. The ultimate is by far the worst, barely modulated, and the penultimate,
6100, by far the best.
11830 & 11850, Nov 28 at 0530, RHC has resumed broadcasting parasitic spurs
attached to 11840 Spanish transmitter running late. Still on at 0641, when 11840 is
S9+20, and I again can make a // match to both spurs. But 9535 & 9710 English
are now off. One more try to view a current B-16 transmission schedule:

NO, it`s still ``Abril - Noviembre 2016`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. 5060, Nov 28 at 0001, VP Chinese at S7; also
4980, at 0004 Nov 28, non-Chinese talk at S7; also 4850, at 0002 Nov 28, JBA
carrier at S5 = noise level; also 4500, Nov 28 at 0003, JBA carrier. These all
correlate with Xinjiang PBS, Urumqi, the language services being: 5060 Chinese,
4980 Uighur, 4850 Kazakh, 4500 Mongolian. Also Chinese at S7 on 4800, which is
CNR1 via Geermu.
5959.96 approx., Nov 28 at 0007, het here to Turkey overrun in German, no doubt
also Xinjiang in Chinese, always off-frequency low (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Nov 28 at 0650, JBA carrier from presumed SIBC.
Earlier and earlier I need to keep trying to detect it, nominally starting at 0500
switch from 9545. Honiara sunset is 0727 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7730, Nov 28 at 0527, WRMI with Brother Scare
getting a lot of mileage out of replaying an attack on ``antagonist`` Mr. Glenn
Hauser, originally aired last April (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 28 at 0007, German talk on poor signal, i.e. VOT failed to
turn off English to North America transmitter before 2400, but it could go off at any
moment when sloppyrators at Emiler get around to it. Maybe slightly on hi side, but
certainly with het on lo side from East Turkistan, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 3215, Nov 27 at 2358, weak carrier cuts on and off and on and off ---
possibly exciter of WWRB, as I am trying to determine its true schedule. I leave a
receiver on here and nothing more until *0011 UT Monday Nov 28, now at full
power S9+45, the standard canned WWRB YL ID with phone number, plea for new
customers, then into keyboard music, at first sounding accordion, but without
pumping. Second tune I recognize, Waltzing Matilda! (Which reminds me, does
WWRB ever play any more the Radio RSA IS before sign-on, as if were their own?
Kindred spirit to apartheid.) This music continues without announcements for
almost the rest of the hour, nice but no tunes I recognize. 0056 switch to some
banjo music, 0059 into a talk show but I don`t keep with it, avoiding risk of
repulsion (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5890, Nov 28 at 0005, OMG, it`s Terry Blalock the Blaster on WWCR!
Besides his daily hour on WBCQ 9330. WWCR sked now shows Full Gospel
``Hour`` for only one semihour UT Mondays at 0000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 15610, Nov 28 at 1422, no signal from WEWN English day frequency.
Normally very poor, but not even a JBA carrier now, so off?
12050, Nov 28 at 1425, WEWN Spanish day frequency is S9+10 but only a big
buzz! By 1502 recheck, no less buzz but added modulation promoting the cult of
the virgin; and still nothing on 15610. This RCC station is really ailing, with third
transmitter completely down (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17775, Nov 28 at 1505, KVOH is S9+20 but with strange noises! Soon
explained as example of ET signals on `Frecuencia al Da`. That`s the lead story on
this episode: ``EE.UU. | La Radio, la "Gran Oreja" y la Seal Wow! Informe con
Eusebio Snchez`` about SETI at Ohio State. Wrong program! Mondays at 1500 on
KVOH sked is supposed to be the other Spanish media show, `Antena DX`, with
FAD at same times on Fridays.
Next item is monthly DX report from Pedro Sedano of AER, who claims that Cairo in
Spanish at 0045 is on 9315 and 12005 --- but I`ve heard no trace of the terrible
transmitter on 9315 since B-16 began; good riddance.
KVOH carrier is wobbly as usual. Still, no sign of the `new` transmitter they have
been trying to install for months/years, and no sign of resuming English evenings
on 9975 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GERMANY [non]. 7360, Nov 29 at 0230, JBA carrier for the publicized
`Menschen und Geschichten` special in English to North America. (Not 7250 where
originally planned, belatedly thinking better of broadcasting in the ham band.)
FARMENIA is not exactly ideal site for transmitting to North America. Thanks for
trying (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MADAGASCAR. 17640, Nov 28 at 1813 check, still no MWV English. Suspect only
one transmitter is operational and being used this hour for Russian on 9570. One of
them is certainly active and well audible after 2100 on 11610 in Chinese to Europe
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ROMANIA. 5960 // 7325, UT Tue Nov 29 at 0142, RRI reading reports from
listeners including bits of provided info about their towns, etc. 0145 music break
and more until 0152.
For ``today`` November 29 Tuesday, it does not show either program on the 0100
broadcast! But DXM on the 12 & 18 UT; LL on the 04 only for Tuesday. For Nov 30
Wed, DXM is shown on the 01 & 04 emissions only.
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7730, Nov 29 at 0127 via WRMI, Brother HyStairical is
replaying yet again his April attack on antagonist Mr Glenn Hauser. I happen to
tune across 7730 again at 0225, and there it is again. Apparently playing it every
hour circa :25 past, as per additional logs. Tnx for all the publicity, Ralphie! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 11580, Nov 28 after 1400, WRMI with World Music while all the other
frequencies except 9395 and 21675 are BSing. More World Music before 2100 on
11580, and after 2100 on 9955; at first with some lite pulse jamming, then clear.
So there are three hours, or parts of hours, still World-Musicking on Mondays and
probably other days (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 9475-, Nov 29 at 0132, WTWW-1 is S9+25, always off to the low side,
but dead air instead of SFAW. At 0133 some bits of distorted audio attempting to
break thru; wiggle that patchcord! Back to dead air. Still so at 0149, vying with
WEWN for wasting the most watts. 9475 still dead at 0154, but 12105-, WTWW-3 is
not only on in Russian, but propagating at S9+20. WTWW-2 is neither on 9930 nor
on 5085 and their four spurs each (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
5810, Nov 29 at 0145, WEWN Spanish is S9+40 but dead air. Meanwhile, 11520
English is OK at S9. I leave a radio on 5810 and no more modulation until turning
off transmitter just before 0154 instead of modulating it all-night; until then, at 5
times the rated power of WTWW, WEWN would be the winner in the wasting-watts
sweepstakes, at least on a minute-by-minute basis (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 9275, Nov 28 at 1813, WMLK still silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
11840, Dec 1 at 0513, RHC Spanish still running here somewhat undermodulated
but S9+20, plus the parasitic spurs on 11830 & 11850 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 7330, UT Thu Dec 1 at 0413 tune-in, it`s the YHWH guy, at
S8 but deep fades. His imperious no-nonsense voice is easily recognized, and
occasional references to Yahweh (Yahway?) confirm the source. It seems that
around 0400 UT on the 7 MHz expanded-broadcast band is his most active time; I
previously heard on 7410, and by Ron Howard also on 7335. No reports yet of any
other times or any other frequencies. Mostly unreadable but I keep tuned and
check periodically, finding him still going at 0426, 0450, 0500; 0522 coming in
better, saying there is no independent historical record that J. C. even existed, only
in the fables of the New Testament. Still at 0550, but off by 0558. So maybe on for
about two hours, rather than one.
Ron Howard monitored a previous broadcast closely and found that IDs as
``Station YHWH`` had been edited out of his recorded sermons. Possibly
attempting to distance himself from the ``station`` already busted by the FCC a
couple years ago, but it`s obviously all the same, so I am going to continue to refer
to this as [Station YHWH] until and unless he come up with another new name
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5085, Nov 30 at 0640, WTWW-2 is on with Xmas music, only S9+20 and
carrier is wobbling vs stable BFO as confirmed vs WWV and any normal carriers.
Expect a lot more airtime for the duration in order to overkill us with Xmas music.
5830, Nov 30 at 0643, WTWW-1 with SFAW audio breaking up, S9+30 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ASCENSION. 5975, Dec 2 at 0637, tonal African language at S7, i.e. BBC Hausa
during this semihour daily (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA. 6100, Dec 2 at 0021, something in Portuguese, poor tho reading S9+10,
not noticed before. HFCC shows it`s CRI, 500 kW, 318 degrees from Beijing site to
CIRAF 12-14, i.e. a long way to S America, aiming northwestward but not for
Portugal (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 11810 & 11820 & 11830 & 11840 & 11850 & 11860 & 11870, Dec 2 at
1345, RHC on multiple frequencies tnx to spurs out of the 11840 fundamental,
which is S9+40 this morning. Previously detectable reliably only on 11830 & 11850,
and once before on 11860 which I then thought was only receiver overload, but
now obviously really transmitted. 11860 doesn`t yet have much QRM from Yemen
[non].
The first-order spurs on 11850 and 11830 are S9+10, hefty signals themselves.
Searching for others, they get progressively weaker but exist as confirmed by // on
another receiver to 11840. Since 11860 is there, how about minus 20 on 11820?
Yes, and still remains even with R75 preamp off. Let`s go for another 10 kHz out:
Yes! 11870 and 11810 are JBA at 1347. All of them are gone at 1407 check as
11840 has closed (and by now Yemen is up to S8 on 11860). Another
accomplishment of RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) see also
UNID 5030
** GUATEMALA. 4055, Dec 2 at 0706, open carrier at S6, presumably Radio Truth
which would have signed off an hour earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** NEWFOUNDLAND. 6159.962, Dec 2 at 0451, still only one poor CBC signal here,
so is it still CKZN with no CKZU? Yes, 0500 CBC news is fading in and out, but 0504
into Monocle 24 from London, within the CBC Overnight sked, which would not have
started yet in BC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 7405, UT Fri Dec 2 at 0447, deliberate search for [Station
YHWH] tuning upward from 7300 finds him here tonight, S8 signal talking about
Yahweh. Axually about 5 Hz low on 7404.995, but his frequency accuracy is better
than a lot of non-pirates.
I told Chris Smolinski about this, and he replies, ``Thanks Glenn, I see a carrier on
my SDR recordings from 0319 until 0530 UTC. No obvious audio, but I will listen
some more`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 2 at 0023, VOT is overrunning again, still on air to North
America in German instead of quitting English circa 2350; S9+15, also with lite het
on low side from Urumqi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7490, UT Fri Dec 2 at 0010, what`s filling the gap on WBCQ this week?
Anti-government discussion of how Aroostook County, Maine (inhabited by WBCQ)
is being deliberately depopulated in order to preserve its natural resources. Not
sure which program this is.
Aroostook, the largest county by land area east of the Rockies, is already so sparse
that some maps, such as the Rand McNally Atlas, make northern Maine a small
inset to the rest of the state on a larger scale (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 750, Dec 2 at 1341 UT, Ukrainian talk from NE, 1342 UT sounds like an
ID, which would be WNDZ Portage IN (Chicago market and address), 15 kW
daytimer, direxional pattern tangent westward, plenty toward here. Ukrainian really
stix out on the domestic AM dial (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** VATICAN. 9660, Dec 1 at 2045, French discussion of SE Nigeria, i.e. Biafra? It`s
Vatican Radio from SMG. Routine log, but rumors keep flying that VR may be
abolished at least from SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Dec 2 at 1500-1505 approx., dead air from Republic of
Yemen Radio, preceded and followed by music. Good signal now, but before 1400,
11860 was dominated by the CUBA spur, q.v. By 1408 Y, via SAUDI ARABIA? had
faded up to S8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
All on the DX-398 with internal ferrite antenna only, except *R75 with E-W longwire
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 5030, Dec 2 at 0641, the JBA carrier again. Sure would like to think
it`s Ouagadougou reactivated; others please check also in evenings. But since
some Cuban transmitters (see 11840!) put spurs out at 10 kHz intervals, could this
be from RHC 5040 which is S9+20, also mixing its splash with Rebelde from 5025?
No, 5030 is still there at 0705 after 5040 is off.
BTW, correct spelling of the long-gone Peruvian on 5030 location: Huamachuco, not
Huamachucho (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 7200-LSB, Dec 1 at 2053, lots of AROs talking over each other, not
QSOs, no IDs, and mixed with someone playing music, then siren sound, a free-for
all on the favorite 41m frequency of naughty hams. What is ARRL`s position on
this? If it were interested in enforcement, the FCC could have a field day with this
(pardon the expression) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA [and non]. 7415, Dec 2 at 1758, JBA carrier 34 minutes before local
mean noon. IBB Chinese via TINIAN is here at 1500-2100, and thus so is CNR1
jamming (or possibly Firedragon). After 1800, CRI in Farsi via Xi`an is also
supposed to be on 7415. Only other one audible on band is 7445, presumably BBC
MADAGASCAR as before; altho 1730-1830 is also scheduled CRI Chinese via
Urumqi toward Europe (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KOREA NORTH. 2850, Dec 3 at 1334, KCBS is S8 in Korean talk, better than
usual; at least a carrier is usually audible around sunrise; OSOB on 105 meters
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST0
9600, Dec 3 at 0108, MWV`s other English hour = New Life Station as on KNLS
Alaska, ending ``music from the 80s, 90s and today`` at S9, into ``American
Highway`` about I-70 in Kansas and some historic site there. This segment is by
Paul Ladd, but I don`t find a script for it on the KNLS website (monarchists: where
the K stands for King`s):
http://knls.org/reading-pleasure-main/paul-ladd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
Chris Smolinski, Maryland, also tells me, ``Better propagation tonight, I have him
on 7410 at 0431z. Weak, but I recognize the voice`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO [and non]. 6185, Dec 2 at 1756, mid-day JBA carrier search on 49m
finds XEPPM, but also an even weaker one on 6070, CFRX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1530, Dec 3 at 1320 UT, KXTD with non-ID for ``Que Buena, 104.9
y 100.3`` but not 1530. 104.9 is the translator in Tulsa, while 100.3 is KCXR in
Taft OK (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
Diciembre de 2016
