Reflection

I Angelina Ann d/o David from 2 PPISMP BNK has taken Progressive English(BIZ 1054)
course for this semester. A task has given to me to prepare a reflection based on the forum we
did for our assignment. To prepare our forum we worked in a group of four. First I would like to
thank my three friends Tai Kwee Fen, Kan Pui Kee, and Lim Junling who cooperated well with
me to complete our forum. The topic for our forum was regarding social issues. We discussed
more details on child abusing and child abandonment as these cases are becoming more viral
among our society nowadays .

Firstly, we had a discussion together to collect the informations to present in class. Here
I got an great opportunity to express my opinions on how to conduct a forum and also some
points for our topic. After we have discussed together we started to create our script for the
forum. I as a moderator, Tai as prof Dr.Tai, Pui kee as school headmistress and Junling as
Chief of Police. We collected a lot of cases recorded and also causes of these problems.

Child abuse consist of any act of commision or omission that endangers or impairs a
childs physical or emotional health and development. Child abuse includes any damage done
to a child which cannot be reasonably explained. On the other hand, child abandonment occurs
when a parent, guardian, or person in charge of a child either deserts a child without any regard
for the childs physical health, safety or welfare and with the intention of wholly abandoning the
child, or in some instances, fails to provide necessary care for a child living under their roof.

So as we see these issue is really going critical. The society should realize the causes of
these problems and its consequences. This is the reason we chose this topic to discuss in our
forum. Through forums that were held, we can give some informations on this issues. As a
moderator of this forum I have discovered many branches of English such as listening and
speaking. By conducting this forum I managed to get a lot of new inputs. Indirectly, I knew that I
were eligible to involve myself actively in a forum when I realised that I have the ability to throw
out my opinion during the discussion. In addition, I also get a great chance to have a good
relationship with other race people while having discussion with my friends.

Moreover, by preparing this forum I had developed my vocabulary skills and it was very
useful for me to improve my speaking and writing skills. Not only that, I had improved my
grammatical error where I am not going to repeat it again. Through this forum also I acquired
reading comprehension skills and reading skills. By taking part in this forum I also became

brave to speak in public. This is because I tried the best to speak during the forum. Speaking in
public also can make us more confident.

Overall, by doing this coursework, I get a lot of benefits. I have learned on how to do an
attractive graphic organizer from my friends as it was our part of assignment for this BIZ 1054
course. I also have learned a lot about grammatical errors also writing skills as our syllabus for
this course contains certain topics named word classes and sentence mood.

In a nutshell, I really had a great opportunity to improve my proficiency in English

language. Hereby I would like to thank my lecturer Pn. Noreida binti Osman for guiding us

throughout completing our Progressive English course .
