1. Set up ADAMS/Car vehicle model

1. Start ADAMS/Car 2008r1in Standard Interface mode; set the

working directory; add the database called acar_easy5; and load
the ADAMS/Controls plug-in.

2. Open the vehicle assembly powersteering.assy from

acar_easy5 database.

3. Perform the files-only simulation with ADAMS/Car

4. Export ADAMS/Car controls plant for EASY5

Open the Full-vehicle Assembly

The vehicle assembly
has been build using
the subsystem
subassembly
powersteering.sub.
The steering template
_steer_ctrls.tpl has
control plant built into
it using the plant
inputs and outputs.

Run Your files-only Simulation

18. Fill in the Output Prefix field

with ctrls_demo. Change the
Mode of Simulation to files_only

19. Right mouse in the Driver

Control File field and search
the car_easy5 database. Select Running a files_only
sin_smooth.xml. Click OK to simulation creates the.acf
and .adm files needed for
run the simulation co-simulation

Run Analyses:
The model has three analyses:

1. NoBoostForce: No Rack force passed to Adams Model. This uses

NoBoost temporary settings file. Set Adams communication interval
and analysis time increment as 0.001seconds. Check out the RackForce
and Steering wheel Column.

2. InitialDesign: Power steering engaged; Check out the RackForce and

Steering wheel Column.

3. TunedDesign: Adjusting the relief valve (RF) pressure to tune the

steering wheel column torque. This uses HighPressure temporary
settings file. Check out the RackForce and Steering wheel Column.

Note: If you change the analysis time increment in Easy5 model; make sure
you change it in the driver control file (sin_smooth.xml) as well. Open
the driver control file in a text editor and change : stepSize="0.001" to
same as analysis time increment used in Easy5 model.
