/ Deeptaadi Avastha of Planets:

/ Deeptaadi Avasthaa indicate benefic / malefic fructification of planets


according to their names. Planets have Nine / *Twelve Deeptaadi Avastha as follows:-

1. / Deepta / Radiant Avastha: When a planet is posited within its exaltation sign
degree, or Mool Trikone degrees; it is said to be in Deepta Avastha. A planet in Deepta Avastha
indicates benign fructification during its DAPS. In this, the native will be capable to defeat his
enemies, will gain various kinds of wealth and will be endowed with happiness.

2. / Swastha / Confidant Avastha: A planet posited in own sign is called in


Swastha Avastha. It is said to be rendering benign effect like that in Deepta Avstha but lesser
quality and quantity than Deept Avastha.

3. / Pramudit / Rejoiced Avastha: A planet posited in Adhimitra / thick /


compound friendly sign or aspected by Guru is known as in Pramudit Avastha. It is said to be
rendering benign effect. In this the native will be pleasingly disposed and will be endowed with
many comforts and gains but lesser than in Swastha Avastha.

5. / Shaant / Peaceful Avastha: A planet posited in friendly sign is called in Shaant


Avastha. It is said to be rendering benign effect. In this, the native will be blessed with peaceful
state of mind, comforts, wealth, promotions etc but lesser than in Pramudit Avastha.

*6. / Shakta / Strong Avastha: A planet victorious in planetary war is called in Shakta /
Strong Avastha. Its fructification will be based on the sign as mentioned above.

*7. / Nipeedidit / Oppressed Avasatha: A planet defeated in planetary war is


called in Nipeedidit / Oppressed Avasatha. Its fructification will be based on the sign as
mentioned above but on the same time it will fail to render desired benign effects.

8. / Deen / Poor Avstha: A planet posited in its neutrals sign is considered to be in


Deen Avastha. Such a planet will fail to render positive fructification and on the other hand will
be inclined to render malefic effects. In this Avastha the native may suffer from diseases, will
suffer from confrontation of relatives, may be abandoned by near and dear ones, colleagues /
boss and may face demotion.

9. / Vikal / Mutilated Avastha: A planet posited in conjunction with malefic


planets is called in Vikal Avastha. In this Avastha, the native will be deprived of his place, or
position, become evil hearted, poor and will wander here and there. He will be frightened by his
enemies.

10. / Khal Avastha: A planet posited in sign of malefic planets is considered to be


in Khal Avastha. Planets in Khal Avastha will be inclined to render malefic fructification. In this
Avastha, the native will grieve in sorrow, due to maintaining his wife / family (the native will
find it difficult maintain even his wife / family), will lose his wealth, will suffer from corrupted
mind and be in miseries.

11. Kopa Avstha: A planet eclipsed by Sun is considered to be in Kopa Avastha. A


planet in Kopa or Krodhit Avastha will fail to render positive fructification even if it appears to
be benign. It is incapacitated by Sun to indicate its desired fructification. However, degree of
eclipsing will make the difference in its fructification. It is like a junior person becomes
incapable to show its power in the presence of its boss. During the DAPS of a planet in Kopa
Avstha; the native will indulge in to evil deeds (as per nature of the planet), will face losses of
sorts, trouble to own family and could suffer from eye troubles.

12. / Bheet Avastha: A planet in extreme debilitation and or in Atichar is said to


be in Bheet Avastha. A planet in Bheet Avastha will render malefic fructification and will be
instrumental in creating hurdles in progress and prosperity of the native concerned. The native
may be troubled by enemies / opponents, be defeated, loss his men and material. This effect will
depend on degree of debilitation and other influence on the said planet and the house concerned.

PS Notes:-

1. Depending upon Avastha of planets, the house occupied by it will get corresponding effects.

2. A planet can be in more than one Avastha as per its various Yoga.

3. In the above context of Deeptaadi Avastha there is a little variation between BPHS and others texts
like Saravali and Jatak Parijat etc. However, the essence of all the texts is similar. BPHS has defined nine
Deepataadi Avsatha and in Jatak Parijat there is mention of ten Deepatadi Avastha. In all the cases only
Deepta, Swastha, Pramudit and Shant Avastha are benign and remaining malefic Avastha are indicative
of malefic effects or sans benign effects
