Comment on the teacher education students knowledge of students and how they learn
From day one, Grady asked lots of questions about the types of learners we had in Stage 3. Based on these discussions, he was
able to identify with students with a range of learning needs. Grady offered 1:1 support during his lessons for students requiring
adjustments to their work. He was able to design differentiated lessons to support struggling students, but also provide opportunities
for extensions activities for those more capable of independent learning. Grady taught students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and
a range of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Comment on the teacher education students knowledge of content and how to teach it
Grady has demonstrated solid knowledge and understanding of the content taught. He has taught students speaking and listening
skills in preparation for a assessment task in week 8. Furthermore, Grady managed to teach sequential lessons developing the
concept of Perspective and then write about this concept while readdressing the structure of introductions and paragraphs using
TEEL. In the subject area of Mathematics, Grady taught a number of rotations teaching patterns and algebra. During these rotations
he developed content that suited beginners, medium and higher level learners. Through observations, it was clear that he
understood this content very well as he could sit with students and work through content with them. Grady also managed to teach
an introductory lesson to Time, in which he assisted struggling students on their understanding of analog time and then visited 24
hour time with other students. Grady facilitated a number of PDHPE activities with students from Early Stage 1 to Stage 3, using
appropriate language to support all students.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Comment on the teacher education students planning and implementing of effective teaching and learning
Grady identified his goals early on in his placement. He established strong learning goals for himself, as well as for students. Most of
his lessons included introductions and conclusions, although, upon discussion with him, he acknowledged that this is an area he is
still working towards. We discussed the strategy of using clear learning objectives and success criteria at the beginning of each
learning experience and to consider time management more to ensure sufficient time was left for reflection on learning at the
conclusion of each lesson. Grady worked towards using supportive language when engaging with students and also responded to
feedback that he needed to project his voice just a little more to ensure he could be heard in all learning spaces. This is an area that
was addressed well.
Comment on the teacher education students creating & maintaining supportive & safe learning environments
Grady has been fully aware of his surroundings in our learning space. He encouraged open communication amongst all groups and
did his best to move from students to students, trying to have a conversation with everyone to gauge learning. He did acknowledge
that it can sometimes be a challenge to not get stuck assisting just one or two students.
Grady's lessons were clearly explained and they mostly all had a clear introduction, body and conclusion.
Grady attended 2 school excursion opportunities during his placement and was fully aware of the importance of monitoring student
safety and security in an environment outside of the school.
One of Grady's placement goals was to develop his behaviour management practices. Early on in the placement he asked about the
schools behaviour management structures and to his credit was sable to manage some more challenging behaviours during his
lessons with a calm and considerate nature.

comparable judgements of student learning.
5.4 Interpret student data
Demonstrate the capacity to interpret student assessment data to evaluate student learning and modify
teaching practice.
5.5 Report on student achievement
Demonstrate understanding of a range of strategies for reporting to students and parents/carers and the
purpose of keeping accurate and reliable records of student achievement.
Comment on the teacher education students assessing, providing feedback and reporting on student learning
Grady provided verbal feedback for the majority of his lessons. He was encouraged to practice some different forms of feedback in
future learning experiences. There was evidence to show that he assessed student understanding during specific lessons to inform
his practice in those lessons, this is an area he could continue to refine to ensure all students are always engaged.
Grady worked towards ensuring that when students weren't entirely on track, to sensitively inform them and provide them with other
options to ensure they are on the right learning path.
PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT
Comment on the teacher education students engagement with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
Grady contributed staffroom discussions and attended all stage meetings, even CPR and a Mathematics module in his thrid week of
placement. As his confidence grows, Grady will surely be a confident contributor to meeting agendas.
SUMMARY COMMENT:
Grady has made a positive impact on his placement at Holy Spirit School. Before commencing his placement he was very
professional and ensured he had all information necessary to make his experience a constructive one.
He engaged very well with staff and students and in a short period, knew many of the students names and learning needs. He
