Sir,

Kindly refer to the above cited letters vide which the design calculations &
drawings for pile foundation of 132 KV transmission line tower, to be erected in river
tawi, have been received in this office for vetting.
On preliminary scrutiny of the said design it has been found that four no.
piles with pile cap have been provided for each leg of the transmission tower. The
bottom of the pile cap has been kept at a depth of 2.8 mtr. below the ground level.
However, no calculation has been found enclosed to ascertain this depth which has to
be governed by the scour depth calculations based on the hydraulic data namely viz.
HFL, Bed slope, Cross section area & Silt factor of bed material of the river. Moreover,
the forces likely to occur during highest flood level (HFL) conditions have also not been
taken into account in the design of the foundation.
In view of the above stated observations, you are hereby requested to
submit the revised design calculations and drawings.
