Metal removing processes: Chip formation and tool design, tool geometry, chip breakers. Theory
of metal cutting: Cutting forces, metal cutting dynamometers; Economics of metal cutting; Tool
life; Cutting fluids. Different machining processes: Turning, drilling, shaping, boring, planning,
milling, grinding, reaming, broaching, etc. Manufacturing of threads and gears, metal finishing
processes. Modern machining processes: electro-chemical, electro-discharge, plasma arc, LASR
beam, electron beam, ultrasonic and abrasive jet machining etc.
Selection of manufacturing processes on the basis of product characteristics and manufacturing
