Standridge Argentum, commissioned by the Sheridan Band Boosters, was written in honor of my band director, Mr. Ron McHone. The title is latin for "Silver" and refers to his 25th anniversary as director of bands at Sheridan High School, Sheridan, AR. Mr. McHone was and is a great music educator; | owe him more than | can ever say (and more than he'd ever acknowledge). | was truly honored to write this for him. The work begins with a 7/8 section (an inside nod to his love of Claude T. Smith, who had a fondness for putting in random 7/8 measures), then kicks into a high spirited dance, honoring the Scottish roots of his surname. The middle section is more stately and is reflective of the great education | and so many have received from this remarkable man. The piece recaps the introductory material before finally coming to a rousing conclusion. Randall Standridge (b. 1976) received his Bachelor's of Music Education from Arkansas State University. During this time, he studied composition with Dr. Tom O'Connor, before returning to Arkansas State University to earn his Master's in Music Composition, studying with Dr, Tom O'Connor and Dr. Tim Crist. From 2001 to 2013, he served as the Director of Bands at Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Mr, Standridge is currently published by Grand Mesa Music, Alfred Music, FJH Music, Wingert-Jones Music, Band Works Publications, Twin Towers Music, and Northeastern Music Publications. Mr. Standridge has had several of his pieces performed internationally, and has had numerous works selected to the J.W. Pepper's editor's choice. His composition Snake Charmer, published by Grand Mesa Music, was included in Teaching Music through Performance in Band Vol. 8 and Gently Blows the Summer Wind is included in Teaching Music Through Performance in Middle Schoo! Band, His works Steel, Gadget, Snake Charmer, The Rowan Tree, Still Stil Stl, That Old Hound Dog Rag, Danse Bohémien, Aggressivo, When the Spring Rain Begins to Fall, and Danse Camivale have been performed at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, linois. His work Ar(isms) was premiered by the Arkansas State University Wind Ensemble at the 2010 CBDNA conference in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mr. Standridge is also a ‘contributing composer for Alfred Music's Sound Innovations: Ensemble Development series. His music is gaining recognition as worthwhile literature for concert festivals and performances across the United States. In addition to his career as a composer, Mr. Standridge is the Marching Band Editor for Grand Mesa Music Publishers. He is in demand as a conductor, clinician, drill designer, music arranger, and colorguard designer for the marching arts. He is also a freelance artist, photographer, and writer.
