CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter presents the literature related on the topic.
It also includes various studies conducted internationally.

Related Literature:
According toZimmarippa (2009), mastering mathematics has
become more important than ever before in the United States. The
purpose of the study was to examine the relationships between
the level of instructional spending per pupil, the teacher's
average years of experience, student attendance rates, and
student achievement on the mathematics portion of the Texas
Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in select Texas high
schools. The findings from this study provided educational
leaders in Texas high schools with factors impacting student
achievement on the mathematics portion of the TAKS test. Teacher
experience and attendance is vital to student achievement and
the results of this study suggest school districts and
educational leaders must find ways to recruit and keep highly
qualified teachers and search for programs or incentives to
increase student attendance.
According to Kori Morgan, Demand Media, while some elementary
school students sail through math class understanding and even
enjoying its concepts, others struggle with anxiety, self-
confidence and understanding its practicality. Because there is
no one size fits all package for math education, numerous
factors can affect how well a student grasps it. Teaching
strategies, thinking styles and attitude can all shape a child's
relationship with math and for in my own experience it is true
some of the students are lacking of self-confidence.
