1.) Lk 13:1-9

Call to Repentance.

1 At that time some people who were present there told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate*
had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
2 He said to them in reply, Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were
greater sinners than all other Galileans?
3 By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!
4 Or those eighteen people who were killed when the tower at Siloam fell on them*do you think
they were more guilty than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
5 By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree.

6 And he told them this parable: There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
7 he said to the gardener, For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have
found none. [So] cut it down. Why should it exhaust the soil?
8 He said to him in reply, Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it
and fertilize it;
9 it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.

W - 5 By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!

O - God is patient and merciful but God is also just.

R - The call to change our hearts, to repent is not just a suggestion it is real.

D - Gods love is steadfast but unless we turn away from all that keeps us from God we will be cut
down like the fig tree.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

1* The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him,
2 but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, This man welcomes sinners and eats
with them.
3 So to them he addressed this parable.

The Parable of the Lost Son.

11 Then he said, A man had two sons,

12 and the younger son said to his father, Father, give me the share of your estate that should come
to me. So the father divided the property between them.

W - 2 but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, This man welcomes sinners and eats
with them.

O - God has an incredible love for the lost.

R - Repentance is making a 180 turn from what you were doing wrong, and doing right.

D - Salvation does not occur without humility, repentance and and understanding of our
unworthiness.

Jn 8: 1-11
A Woman Caught in Adultery.

1 while Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.*

2 But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to
him, and he sat down and taught them.
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made
her stand in the middle.
4 They said to him, Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.* So what do you say?
6 They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent
down and began to write on the ground with his finger.*
7 * But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, Let the one among
you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.
8 Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.
9 And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with
the woman before him.
10 Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned
you?
11 She replied, No one, sir. Then Jesus said, Neither do I condemn you. Go, [and] from now on
do not sin any more.

W - 7 * But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, Let the one
among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.

O - Jesus has more than forgiveness he brings mercy.

R - Often we throw stones at ourselves more than at others. What we condemn in others is what
sometimes we do not like in ourselves.

D - Only divine forgiveness and divine love received with an open and sincere heart give us the
strength to resist evil and to sin no more, to let ourselves be struck by Gods love so that it
becomes our strength.

Lk 22: 14-23

The Last Supper

14 When the hour came, he took his place at table with the apostles.

15 He said to them, I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover* with you before I suffer,

16 for, I tell you, I shall not eat it [again] until there is fulfillment in the kingdom of God.i

17 Then he took a cup,* gave thanks, and said, Take this and share it among yourselves;

18 for I tell you [that] from this time on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of
God comes.

19 Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body,
which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.

20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which will be shed for you.

The Betrayal Foretold.

21 And yet behold, the hand of the one who is to betray me is with me on the table;

22 for the Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is
betrayed.

23 And they began to debate among themselves who among them would do such a deed.

W - 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my
blood, which will be shed for you.

O Jesus is "Bread of Life" and the "Cup of Salvation"

R - With sin, betrayal, injustice, and in the middle of it all is love. Total and compassionate love of
God.

D Through faith in Jesus Christ we are one with God. When we break the bread and share the cup
we celebrate this and commit ourselves to imitate Him and continue His mission to transform the
world.
