This is a great activity for practicing or reviewing prepositions of place, specifically
prepositions of location and direction.

Procedure

Start the activity by drawing a picture frame on the board. Label and explain the use of top-
right, on the left / right side, bottom left, in, at the top / bottom, etc.

Have the students take turns in drawing objects in the frame in a range of positions. Try to
review all of the prepositions at the bottom of the worksheet in this part of the activity.

After several objects have been drawn in the frame, ask random students to describe
where the objects are located.

Next, divide the students into pairs (A and B) and distribute the worksheets.

Students then draw pictures in the upper frame according to the instructions on their
worksheet.

Students then work with their partner.

Student A reads their instructions to Student B.

Student B draws the objects in the lower frame.

Then, the students swap roles.

After that, they compare their pictures and discuss any differences.

As an extension, you can have the students add new objects to their drawings and dictate
these new instructions to their partner. When both pictures are finished, have the students
ask and answer questions about the location of the new objects.
