FSU Strength and Conditioning Coach Job Description

Position Overview:

The mission of the Florida State Athletic Department is to create and sustain NCAA
Division I programs for men and women that are characterized by comprehensive excellence.

conditioning department supports this mission by preparing our student-athletes for holistic
success. This means that we seek to not only provide them with the optimal resources, training,
and information that ensures that they peak as athletes, but that we teach them through their
experience in our performance program what it means to be professional, meet extraordinary
expectations, and be successful holistically.

Florida State Strength and Conditioning Coaches inspire and empower their
student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves athletically, academically, and beyond. To
this end, applicants for this position must desire to be in cutting-edge in terms of their academic
knowledge, field experience, and ability to develop professional relationships with staff, coaches,
and students alike. Coaches are expected to be self-motivated in keeping up on current research,
investigating new ideas, and communicating insights to program leaders.

Beyond merely having a certain Strength and Conditioning skill set, applicants must
hold themselves and others to the high standards embodied by FSU Strength and Conditioning.
Coaches must be capable of representing the best of Florida State University Strength and
Conditioning at all times, in all interactions.

Responsibilities:

Create and lead individualized and team-based programs grounded on measurable standards and
series of assessments. Primary team responsibilities will be Mens and Womens Tennis. This
position will also assist with multiple other Olympic Sport teams as needed.
Create and process data based on testing of student athletes according to sport-specific skills,
position, and gender; utilize this data to drive performance enhancement and make adjustments
throughout the season to both training programming as well as recovery tools.

Initiate collaboration with FSU medical, psychological, and nutritional teams to implement
measures to assist student-athletes and develop new modes of collaboration to promote
student-athlete welfare.

Carry out daily tasks connected to the maintenance and operation of a Strength and Conditioning
facility, including directing or carrying out priority tasks as determined and delegated by
superiors.

Qualifications:

Possess intrinsic motivation to put forth the best effort possible to develop oneself as well as
others.

Ability to form meaningful, empowering, and professional relationships with student-athletes


program leaders, co-workers, and support staff.

Previous experience playing and/or coaching TENNIS athletes.

Hold either certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National
Strength and Conditioning Association, or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through
the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach Association.

Ability to produce results and growth in a performance- focused, result-driven environment.

Well-developed communication skills including, but not limited to, written, oral, and
body-language based communication.

Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, along with the values necessary to
abide by them.

Compensation:

$19,000 per year OR Graduate School tuition (in-state) and stipend.
