Executive Summary

8 highly isolated channel pairs

Four takeaways from presentation
If you take nothing else away, please note
these four points.
1 With 8 highly isolated channel pairs, users can
monitor voltage and current power usage from
multiple inputs throughout the facility.

2 Used to monitor critical components

The power monitor module monitors critical
components. It complements a larger power
monitoring solution.

3 Component longevity
The module allows you to reduce the strain on
critical components by optimizing energy
consumption.

4 Component power insights

The module calculates real power, apparent
power, reactive power, and power factor to
increase visibility of energy usage.

Before We Start: RMS Concepts
Real, Reactive, Apparent, and Power Factor

Real Power = Beer

Reactive Power = Foam
Apparent Power = Beer + Foam
Power Factor = Beer / Beer + Foam

Power Factor of 1 means no foam

Power Factor of .5 means 50% foam

Example Application

Electrode Longevity
Electric arc furnaces contain single-phase
electrodes that provide a charge to melt various
types of minerals.

The RMS module could help extend the life

expectancy of the furnace electrodes by using the
highly accurate power measurements to optimize
the power consumption of each electrode.
