IN_OUR COLLEGES
Response at Healdsturg Gollege.--I spoke to the church fran
Zechariah (Joshua and the angel) of the marvelous love of God evidenced
for fallen man and His great care over His people to resist the power of
Saben that would afflict and destroy them, I called those forvard vho
desired to give themselves to the Lori. Quite a number of students care
forward, The Lord's tender spirit was won them, His love in many hearts.

I have now spoken to
the helpers, nursing class and physicians five times during the week of
prayer, and I am sure my talks are appreciated, I have spoken in the
college twice,
Last Thusday Professor ____ wished me to cone over there, I went
and prayed and spoke to the large chapel filled with students, I had meh
freedom in speaking and in presenting before them the goodness and mercy6
of God and the great condescension and sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the
weavenly revard purchased for us, the last final victory and vhat a privie
lege it is to be Christians,
Prof. ____ arose ami attermted to speak but his heart was full and
te did not utter a word for five minutes but stood weeping before the
People, Then le seid a fey words, "I am glad that I ama Christian," He
talked for about five minutes, then he gave liberty for all to spealcy
Many testimonies vere bome but it seemed to me that there must be
@ company reached that we had not yet succeeded in reaching, We called
all to come forward who felt that they were unready for Christ's coming
and had not an evidence of their acceptance with God, I thought the whole
house was in motion, te then gave opportunity for all to express their
feelings but ve had after a little another season of prayer ani the blessing
of the Lord seemed to reach hearts,
Then we separated into divisions and continued the work for tuo
hours longer ani the Lord's Spirit came into the meeting in a renarkable
manner. Several of those who had iow nothing of a religious faith,
unbelievers from the world, have obtained a genuine experience in the
Teligiow life, Ani the work is going deeper and deeper, The Lord is at

An Outstamiim Experieme With a Alt: 2 in Australia
On Sabbath, May 25, ve had a most precious meeting in the hall where
cur people meet at North Fitzroy, For severel days before the mecting, I inex
that T vas expected to speak in the church on Sabbaths but fortunately I had
@ severe cold, ani was quite hoarse, I felt inclined to excuse myself fron
‘his eppointnent, but as it vas my only opportunity, I said, "I will place
nyself before the people, and I believe the Lord will ansuer my earne st
prayers, and renove the hoarseness so that I can present my message to the
People." I presented to my heavenly Father the promise, "Ask, ard it shall
be given.yous seek, ari ye shall find; inock, and it shall be opened unto you:
for every one that asketh receiveth; and’ he that secketh finieths and to him
that Imocketh # shall be opened... . If se then, being evil, know how to
ave good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is
in heaven give good thirgs to then that ask hin?t Matt. 7:7, 8 1.) Again
Christ says, “Whatsoever ye shall ack in my nane, that will I do, that te
Father may be glorified in the Son." [John 141134]
The word of God is swe, I had asked, and I believed that I would be
crabled to speak to the people, I selected a portion of Scripture; but then I
rose to peak, it vas taken from my mind, and I felt impressed to speak from
the first clapter of 2 Peter. The Lord gave me speciel freedom in presenting
the value of the grace of Gai, Har much is His grace to be appreciated! The
spostle says, "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you, through the Inotdledge of
Gedyand of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine parer hath given unto us
all things that pertain unto life and godliness, tirowgh the imovledge of him
‘that hath called us to glory and virtue: thereby are given unto us exceeding
Great and precious promises: thet by these ye might be vartakers of the divine
nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through Lust"
(2 Peter 1:2-h.]9
Iwas enabled by the aid of the Holy Spirit to speak with clearness and
pover, At the close of my discourse, I felt impressed by tke Spirit of Ged to
extend an invitation for all those to come forward who desired to give theme
selves fully to the Lord. Those who felt the need of the prayers of the serv-
ants of Goi were invited to mle it manifest, About thirty came forward,
Among these vere the wives of the Brethren Anerson, who for the first tine
nade manifest their desire to cone rear to God. My heart was filled with m-
speakable gratitude because of the movement made by these two women,
T could then see why I was so earnestly moved to male this invitation,
At first I had hesitated, wondering if it were best to do so then Willie
[nite] and myself vere the only ones whon I could see who 1ould give us any
help on that occasion, Bub as though someone bad spoken to me, the thought
passed through my mind, "Cannot you trust in the Lord?" I said, "I will,
Tord," Although my son vas mch surprised that I should make such a call on
‘this-oceasion, yet he was equal to the emergency, I never heard him speak
with greater power or deeper feeling than at that time. He called upon
Brethrm Faulthead ani Selistury to come forvard ani ve leelt in prayer, Willie
took the lead, and the Lord surely indited his petition; for te seered to pray
as though in the presence of God, Brethren Faulkhead and Salisbury also pre-
sented fervent petitions, and then the Lord gave me a voice to pray, I ree
menbered the Sisters Anderson, who for the first tim were taking a mblic
stand for the truth, The Holy Spirit of Goi was in the meeting, and many
were stirred by its deep movings,
At the close of the meting mmy pressed their way to the platform, and
taking me by the hand, requested me with tears in their eyes to pray for then.
T answered heartily, "I will." The Sisters Anierson vere introduced to re, and
I found that their hearts vere very tender.
Twill tell you a little more definitely atout the situation of these10.
Anderson brothers and their wives, Bro, Somerville was the first one who.
interested these mn in the truth, He requested the help of Bro. Starr in
ving then Bible reatings, and through these influences they were led to come
upon the Brighton cemp-growd, They were delighted vith the cotton city, and
decided to have a tent for their families, and thus be able to receive the
benefit of the meetings, The wives could be on the ground whenever they
chose, tut the husbands could only attend the neetings when their business per-
mitted, But they did this, placing themselves in the channel of light vhere
the heavenly current could flow to their souls, They were converted and bap-
tized, From that time they closed their msic store on the Sabbath,
The father was very much troubled over their course, but they not only
refused to do business themselves, but véuld not alloy him to open their music
store to do business on the Sabbath himself, It vas a very trying experience
for them, tut through the kelp of the Lord the matter was adjusted, ani the
brothers went on with their business without leaving the truth, They had to
suffer the affliction of oppositi from father and mother and relatives, The
nother of one of the sisters who has now taken ter position on the truth, has
deen a most bitter opposer, and has threatened that if her daughter did becone
a Sabbath-keeper, she vould not allow her to enter her hone; for the nother
looked upon her as a disgrace to the family, A short time ago Bro, and Sister
Anderson lost a little child, but this mother would not attend the funeral,
Mrs, Anderson had often nade the statenent that ste vould never join the
Seventh-day Adventists, Ste had been brought up in the Presbyterian church,
and had been educated to think that it was very improper for women to speak in
meeting, and that for a wman to preach was altogether beyond the bounds of
propriety, She enjoyed hearing Elders Daniels ani Corliss, and thought them
very clever spealers, tut she would not listen to a wonan's preaching, Her
husband bad prayed that God would so arrenge matters that she might be convertedn
under the ministry of Sr, White, When I nade the appeal, and urged those to
cone forvard who felt their need of drawing nearer to Gai, to the surprise of
all these sisters cane forvard, Tie sister who had lost her little one, said
that she vas determined that she would not move forward, bub the Spirit of the
Lord so forcibly impressed her mind that she dared not refuse,
When the brethren Anierson saw their wives going forward, they said they
felt Hite leaping and praising God. They could hardly believe their om eyes.
‘These mn have proved Gai's promise true; for in asking they have received, and
their faith las been greatly increased in Him who Ins made every promise sure
in Jesus Christ.
My faith also was revarded, and although difficulty was brought upon me
by the prevailing epidenic, still the Lord sustained me, and lifted won ne
the health of His coutenance, I feel so grateful to my heavenly Father for His
loving kindness in bringing these tio precious souls to unite with their hus-
bands in obeying the truth, They have counted the cost before they have entered
‘upon the Christian warfare. For sc time these sisters Ive been attending
the Sabbath School, They browght the little children with them that they might
receive the benefit of the instruction in tle smaller classes, while they them
selves have felt that they have gained much instruction in studying the les-
sons of the senior division, They were much nearer belief in the truth, nearer
the kingdom of heaven than they themselves had thought.
This Sabbath day vas a precious day, Was there not joy in heavn over
te se two souls vho Ind received Christ? John says, "Bi es nany as received
him, to them gave he power to become the sms of God, even to them that be=
Lieve on his nam: which were born, not of blood, nor of the vill of the
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, And the Word was mde flesh, and
dwelt among us, (ani we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father ,) full of grace and truth... . And of his fulness have all we
received, and grace for grace,"=-Letter 56, 1895. [John 1:12-1h, 16.]
