SABAH, Sat A night out for four friends ended in tragedy when two of them burnt to
death in an accident near Putatan last night. The accident took place along the Putatan
Kota Kinabalu expressway at 9.30 p.m. The four men, all in their 30s, were headed to Papar
from the town centre in a Perodua Myvi. The driver is believed to have lost control of the
vehicle and rammed into a road divider and lamp post before the car burst into flames.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver and the passenger as the front managed to escape.
However, their two friends in the back were unable to get out of the vehicle before the car
was engulfed in flames. Jalan Tuaran Bypass Fire and Rescue station operations commander
Badrul Bakhtiar said firemen took more than an hour to put out the blaze and extract the
remains of the two from the vehicle. As of 11.30 p.m., the identities of the two dead men are
still unknown. Their remains were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem
examination.

The banana is an edible fruit of common plant that grows very well in Malaysia. It grows
in clusters and hangs from the top of the plant. It is a very popular fruit all over this world and is
grown in more than a hundred countries. The fruit is usually green when it is young and turns
yellow when it ripens.

The banana has many uses. Its fruit can be eaten raw and has a sweet, starchy taste. It can
also be cooked in many ways. A popular favourite in Malaysia and Singapore is pisang goreng
or fried banana fritters. This makes a great tea-time treat. Malaysians also enjoy eating kerepek
pisang or banana chips. This finger food is prepared by slicing the bananas very thinly and then
deep frying them in oil.

Banana leaves are also very useful for wrapping food such as nasi lemak. They are also
used to wrap traditional Malaysian cakes like lepat pisang, kuih koci and kuih pulut udang.
Besides that, the leaves are also used as plates for food in Indian restaurants.
