Danzas tpicas de Potos

Las danzas tpicas de Potos representan la ritualidad de agradecimiento a la tierra por la

produccin, estas son transmitidas de una generacin a la otra, para promover parte de la
costumbre ancestral y del patrimonio cultural de esta regin andina.

Las danzas tradicionales de Potos son los Tinkus, Potolos, Cueca Potosina y Pinquillada.

Los Tinkus
Los Tinkus es una danza que representa un enfrentamiento de carcter ritual que se realiza en
las poblaciones del Norte de Potosi y Sur de Oruro Bolivia. El significado de la palabra Tinku es
"encuentro" (de la palabra quechua tinkuy, encontrarse).

En los ltimos aos tambin ha sufrido una tergiversacin al ser presentada como una danza
folclrica, que rpidamente se hizo muy popular, especialmente en las ciudades y que cada vez
se aleja ms del origen y significado propio.

ste ritual es todava practicado en las comunidades de la regin denominada Norte Potos,
siendo conservado y transmitido de una generacin a la otra, para promover parte de la
costumbre ancestral y del patrimonio cultural.
Danza pinquillada
La pinquillada se baila en poca de lluvia (Jallupacha) y del florecimiento de los nuevos
productos, los habitantes quechuas del norte Potos agradecen a la Madre Tierra (Pachamama)
con sus danza y msica interpretada con pinquillos hechos de madera y caahueca.

La Pinquillada ya fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial del Estado Plurinacional por la
Cmara de Senadores y la normativa fue promulgada por el presidente Evo Morales.

The typical dances of Potos represent the ritual of gratitude to the land for the production, these
are transmitted from one generation to the other, to promote part of the ancestral custom and
the cultural heritage of this Andean region.
The traditional dances of Potos are the Tinkus, Potolos, Cueca Potosina and Pinquillada.

The Tinkus

The Tinkus is a dance that represents a confrontation of ritual character that is realized in the
populations of the North of Potosi and South of Oruro Bolivia. The meaning of the word Tinku is
"encounter" (from the Quechua word tinkuy, to be found).
In the last years also it has undergone a misrepresentation when being presented like a folkloric
dance, that quickly became very popular, especially in the cities and that each one goes away
more of the origin and own meaning.
This ritual is still practiced in the communities of the region called Norte Potos, being conserved
and transmitted from one generation to the other, to promote part of the ancestral custom and
cultural heritage.

Pincushion dance

The pinquillada dances in rainy season (Jallupacha) and the flowering of the new products, the
Quechua inhabitants of the north Potos thank the Mother Earth (Pachamama) with their dance
and music interpreted with pinquillos made of wood and caahueca.
La Pinquillada was already declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Plurinational State by the
Senate and the legislation was promulgated by President Evo Morales.
