International conference on
Pluralism and
Multiculturalism in Teaching
and Research of English
language and Literature to be
held on 15th and 16th April
2016 which is organized by
Department of English,
School of Social Sciences
and Languages, VIT
University. The concept is
Pluralism and
Multiculturalism, irrespective
of certain differences. This
two day conferences are
aimed at inviting the research
papers from scholars,
professors and students of
English language and
literature so as to debate and
discuss preferences and
possibilities of making the
universal citizenship.
Post-Conference: Diverse
scopes which worked for the
teaching/learning and
research in Indian and global
contexts were discussed. The
Department of English,
School of Social Sciences
and Languages VIT
University, Vellore organized
the conference for learning
about relationship between
languages and literatures
across India and the world.

It was reported that 200
delegates from various states
of India, Iraq, Sri Lanka and
many participated in the
conference. They presented
their papers. It was a very
successful event satisfying
everyone over there and
giving opportunities to them
to explore themselves.

The central government is in

It seems hard to believe that
there is such a process just to
sleep. Human brain plays a
major role in regulating the
switch between sleep and
wakefulness.
The Suprachiasmatic
nucleus or nuclei (SCN) is a
tiny region of the brain in
the hypothalamus, situated
directly above the optic
chiasm. It is responsible for
controlling circadian
rhythms. The neuronal and
hormonal activities it
generates regulate many
different body functions in a
24-hour cycle, using around
20,000 neurons.
The SCN interacts with many
other regions of the brain. It
contains several cell types
and several
different peptides including
vasopressin and vasoactive
intestinal peptide
and neurotransmitters.
The findings showed that
inactivation of potassium
channels known as BK in
SCN are critical for encoding
the 24-hour human biological
cycle. Inactivation of
potassium channel is a
critical neurobiological
process for regulating sleep
and wakefulness cycles. To
further investigate the role of
the circadian pacemaker in
sleep regulation in mice, they

CBFC for clean chit.
Sir,
As seen earlier that Anurag
Kashyap had many
differences with CBFC. For
his film Bombay Velvet
CBFC asked him to carry the
warning against smoking in
all the scenes in which the
film's characters have been
shown smoking, to which the
director has said no. Anurag
refused to do so and decided
to file a petition against the
Censor Board. But now
Anurag Kashyap has thanked
CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani
for clearing the expletive-
laden trailer of his upcoming
production venture Udta
Punjab without a single cut.
This is a good sign that our
Bollywood is coming and
staying together.
I appreciate Anurag Kashyap
for this attitude.
I personally hope this
continues.

Sir,
We noticed The magnitude-
7.8 quake, the strongest to hit
Ecuador since 1979, was
centered on Ecuadors thinly

tourist beaches, 105 miles
(170 kilometers) northwest of
Quito, the capital. Ecuadors
earthquake is about six times
stronger and has released
more energy than the one in
Japan a day before.
This is also because of our
deeds. Most of us accept that
our actions can have great
effects on our natural
environment. In the case of
triggering earthquakes, we're
talking about man's actions
reaching deep underground,
all the way down to the crust.

Re: Curfew lifted from
Srinagar parts
Sir,
ENLIGHT
In response to life in Srinagar
returned to normal yesterday
after complete shutdown and
restrictions for four
consecutive days. Moreover,
the curfew imposed in several
parts of the city to prevent
any protest display was lifted
by the authorities yesterday.
Regular business activities
resumed today as shops,
stores and other business
establishments across the city
reopened after witnessing a
halt of four days.
Furthermore, the public and
private transport was seen
plying back across all routes
in the summer capital of
Srinagar.
This issue led to huge loss.
This may shut down problem
but would lead to more
economic issues. The market
remains shut down causing
stop in economic flow of
money. Also people lives are
at risk. The transport is
hacked causing goods to be
stocked in between without
any movement. They
shouldnt have molested
someone in such a way. This
issue also has impact on
others life.

Ref: Lessons from the Mallya
case
Sir,
It appears that not everyone
agrees on the true
significance of a flamboyant
tycoon decamping with debts
of Rs.9,000 crore owed to
Indias banks. Perhaps he had
had in mind that it is the
public sector banks that had
lent so fecklessly to Mr.
Mallya, and these had for
decades, been showcased as a
symbol of Indian socialism.
The set of actions should be
taken by the government in
this case. We also need to
work towards a re-
engineering of procedures.
This can be taken care of by
moving to a system of
whetting loan applications
through committees, thus
allowing joint responsibility
to come into play. Lack of
transparency weakens our
public banking sector. In the
age of information
technology and the Excel
spreadsheet, the necessary
transparency is literally just a
click away.

Re: Kerala on a mission to
conserve sacred groves
Sir,
Its a great attempt to arrest
the depletion of the rich gene
pool and protect the hotspots
of local biodiversity. The
State Medicinal Plants Board
(SMPB) is embarking on a
project for conservation of
sacred groves in Kerala,
funded by the National
Medicinal Plants Board
(NMPB), the Rs.1.34-crore
project involves conservation
and resource augmentation of
sacred groves with medicinal
plants in over 100 hectares.
The proposed activities
include bio-fencing,
inventorisation of plant
wealth and cleaning up of
water bodies.
Over the years, several sacred
groves in the State have
disappeared, thanks to
urbanization, encroachments,
and reckless exploitation of
biological resources. Of the
10,000 sacred groves in the
princely State of Travancore,
hardly 1,200 exist now, and
among them, several are on
ENLIGHT
the verge of extinction,
according to the subject
committee of the Assembly
on Forests, Environment and
Tourism. Cattle grazing,
poaching of birds and
animals, and the shift to cash
crops are the other threats. So

may not take part in Sidi in
future
Sir,
In response to Sunil Kumars
death I would like to share
my views. Lakkaiahs 21-
year-old son Sunil Kumar
died on Saturday evening as
the wooden pole used to
perform the ritual broke and
hit him hard. He collapsed on
the spot and was rushed to a
hospital in Belur, where he
was declared brought dead.
Sidi is one of the risky
rituals performed in different
parts of the Karnataka during
festivals of local deities. One
person is tied to a wooden
pole with the help of hook
inserted into his body and a
group of people rotate the
pole at a height of about 20
ft. Often, Dalits are chosen to
perform the ritual. Its an
inhuman practice. I wish that
the death of the youth, while
performing the risky ritual,
strengthens public demand
for the passing of this Bill,
which will go a long way in
prohibiting inhuman
practices. Dalits are often
forced to take up hard and
risky jobs in the name of
keeping age-old traditions
alive. Wherever such
practices are held, it is the
Dalits who are forced to carry
out unsafe tricks to entertain
others. These practices which
may harm us should be
abolished.

Ref: Water shortage, jaundice
outbreak derail tourism in
Shimla
Sir,
In response to that capital
Shimla is not yet free of the
jaundice and Hepatitis-E
epidemic caused by sewage
contamination of drinking
water at Ashwani Khad, a
major water supply system
for the town. This water
scheme has been shut down
by the local municipal
corporation for more than
three months now and
resulted in acute water
shortage. Residents and
hotels in a majority of the
citys suburbs are supplied
drinking water on alternate
days while localities further
away get water once in three
or four days.
In most of Shimla, taps stay
dry - water supply is
restricted to once in two or
three days. Some
neighborhoods receive tap
water once a week. With the
sweltering heat in the nearby
plains of Punjab, Haryana
and Delhi, the tourist season
should have been at its peak
by now but visitors are

fighting shy of visiting the
hill State following reports of
acute water shortage and
outbreak of jaundice.
Tourism has been further
crippled by a strike by hotel
and restaurant workers,
exacerbated by crumbling Vellore,

about what are selfies starring two women. It

of taking selfies. It then says about three
generations peoples perspective on selfie. And
then how they personally take selfies and then
