Title: 4110 System Software v4.0 Download Procedure CD Part #: 701P45843
Instruction #: Tag/Mod #: NA Classification Code: M

Purpose
This kit provides the 4110 Family System Software v4.0 to support the launch of the 4595 program. This software
supports the 4110, 4595, 4590, 4110EPS and 4590EPS (Enterprise Printing System) configuration and the OHCF
(Oversize document High Capacity Feeder) option. The software is a mandatory upgrade for all 4110 Family
product installs in the field. When the upgrade is complete, the machine should have the set of v4.0 software versions
identified in Table 4 (Section 8).
Note: This software can be installed on systems with or without the OHCF. Check GSN Library 5775 for a possibly
more updated version of these Instructions before beginning.
Warning: The new FCW (Full Color Window) PWBs (PL2.5 item 18) labeled Modena with
part number 960K16760 (4110 family) and 960K16750 Modena PWB (4595 only) require
System Software v3.0 or higher. Downgrading this software or installing Modena PWB in a
system with software older than v3.0 may cause Boot failure and render the PWB
inoperative.
The 4110 Family Service Support CD (701P45843) includes the 4110 System Software v4.0 and procedures to
support product installs.

Breakdown of Procedure
Section 1: Print System Settings List
Section 2: Machine Settings Verification
Section 3: Confirm current software version
Section 4: Save NVM Snapshot of Critical values
Section 5: Load System Software (All in One File)
Section 6: Loading Individual SW Files
Section 7: Restore Snapshot of Critical NVM
Section 8: Call Closeout

Prerequisites
For new Installs, install the system machine hardware and all related kits. Locate the Customer Drivers CD to upgrade
customer clients as soon as the System SW upgrade is completed.
PWS Diagnostics Tool version 1.6 (701P46483) installed in PWS
Note: For new Installs or existing Fiery DFE or DocuSp DFE attached to the system an upgrade to the required DFE
Software may be needed.- See the Service Support Kit and 4595 Enablement / V4.0 Field Upgrade Kit for details.
Ensure that all needed software is available for the DFE Upgrade. Failure to complete the required DFE Upgrade
simultaneously will disable DFE printing functions. The Fiery DFE V1.1 Kit, as ordered by the Customer, must be
installed prior to installing the Fiery V1.1 (SP1) that enables the EFI DFE to work with System Software V4.0

Procedure
Please read all of these instruction steps to the end very carefully before starting. Complete each step as required. If
this is an initial install, ensure that the Customer Site Survey with customer network information is available.
Section 1 Print System Settings List
The System Settings List contains customer configuration information. Print the System Settings List so customer
information can be restored at the conclusion of the software upgrade. For a new install, the System Settings list will
not contain customer information but may be useful as a reference.

1. Select Machine Status button. Select the Billing Meter/Print Report tab. Select Print Report/List, Print
Mode Settings, Settings List-Common Items. Select Start.

Section 3 Confirm current software version

Check the current version of software on the system. Select Machine Status on the UI. Select Machine
Information and Software Version. Compare the software versions to Table 4 (Section 8) of this procedure.
If Controller + PS ROM v1.201.2 (Sys SW v2.1) is loaded you must upgrade to 4110/4590 v3.0 System
Software (701P44943) before continuing with this procedure.
NOTE: If Finisher D ROM is at 7.3 or lower, you MUST upgrade the Finisher Software to v. 9.13.0 using
the System ver. 3.0 Upgrade CD AND only selecting add-individual Files and then Finisher..
If Controller+PS ROM v1.202.6 (non-EPS) or v1.202.5 (EPS) (Sys SW v3.0) is loaded, continue with
Section 4.
If Controller+PS ROM v1.203.4 (non-EPS) or (EPS) (OHCF Enable SW) is loaded, continue with
Section 4.
If all software components, (ignoring the HCF or OHCF ver.) match Table 4, no software upgrade is
required. Go to Section 8 Call Closeout.
Note: OHCF and HCF Firmware Components do not upgrade or downgrade in the Field procedure..

Section 4 Save NVM Snapshot of critical values

For this System SW upgrade an NVM initialization is not required. Therefore, the NVM Snapshot saved in this
section will serve as a backup in the event of a software download or PWB failure during the upgrade. The NVM
snapshot includes the customer and machine specific manufacturing settings.
1. Insert the CD with the 4110/4595/4590/4110EPS/4590EPS System SW in your PWS CD-ROM Drive.
2. Ensure the PWS is plugged into an AC Power Supply and that the USB cable is connected to the IOT.
3. Enter 4110_4590 PWS Diagnostics from the PWS. Wait for the Tool to read information and connect.
4. Select NVM Access from the DC Quick pull-down menu.

Note: NVM locations introduced with new System SW are included in the script files. If NVM locations did not
exist in the previous software version read errors will occur for that location when the Snapshot is created. Select
Ok at the error messages and let the script run to completion.
7. Select Save Snapshot. The NVM Access folder should open. The file name format is:
machineserialnumber_mm/dd/yr_4110-4590v40.mbd. Select Save. Select Yes to create, save, or replace
existing file as required.

Section 5 Load System Software (All in One file)

The Controller Software is provided in three configurations: Print Server (PS), Digital Copier (DC), and Digital Printer
(DP) configurations. Print Server (PS) software enables the Green Controller to accept PostScript and PCL print jobs
over the network and includes Scanner and DADF SW. The Digital Copier (DC) software does not include the Print
Server SW but includes the IISS (Scanner) and DADF. Digital Printer (DP) does not include the Print Server, IISS or
DADF software. The software for each configuration is provided in two formats: a single inclusive .bin file (All In One
file) for standard upgrades or Individual .bin files, which may be required for diagnostic activities or single module
upgrades/reloads.
This section provides the procedure for typical System Software upgrades. If software download problems are
experienced and individual files must be downloaded, go to Section 6. Loading Individual Software files.
