Coffey, Kelly. Social Media? More Like Anti-Social Media for This Generation. University

Wire, 2014. Global Newsstream. Accessed 25 September 2017. This article discusses the

effects social media has on physical interactions. The conclusions find that the

introduction of smart phones resulted in the separation of individuals and the outside

world as they become incapable of developing face-to-face conversational skills. This

article supports my argument because excessive connection to virtual society decreases

connection to the real one.

Media Use. Social Behavior and Personality: an international journal, vol. 41, no. 3,

2017. This article discusses how introverts predominantly communicate through the

Internet. The conclusions find that wallflowers have a preference to remain anonymous

because physical interaction is too difficult and confrontational for them. This article

enhances my argument because social media intensifies an individuals mask of

anonymity without aiding them in developing face-to-face conversational ability.

investment in one another. The conclusions find that though a person may have popularity

and a positive presence online, their real life reputation may differ. This article supports

my argument because it amplifies the idea that people are not exactly who they portray

themselves to be in the virtual world.
