We are grateful to those who give of their time and
care to bring Holy Communion to our parishioners
who cannot make it to church due to sickness or in-
firmity. If you know of anyone who would like to re-
ceive communion in their home or while hospitalized

may remember our parents
saying to us as kids: Dont

until you finish your homework. In each case we
had our own little tricks and objections to get out of it.
Even God experienced the same thing while in
conversation with Moses. In the Book of Exodus, we
read that Moses did not want to do what God asked
of him. Despite continued assurance that God would
be with him through it all, Moses still struggled to
free himself from Gods assignment. Moses finally
refused, saying: If you please, my Lord, send some-
one else!
At the end of the day, our own obedience will save
or condemn us. In the Book of Revelation, we read:
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone
hears my voice and opens the door, [then] I will en-
ter his house. God says to us, Answer the door.

Bishops Charities Dinner

First harvest dinner a great success
Thanks to all who helped in so many ways to make
the September 23 Canada 150 multicultural harvest
dinner a great success. It marked the first communi-
ty dinner held in our new church basement, the
Angelina Prokich Great Hall, a christening for our
beautiful facility and an evening filled with great food,
fun and fellowship for the St. Helen family. Including
a silent auction and a very lively, live auction, the
event raised more than $6,000. Thank you for your
presence, thank you for your contributions. God al-
ways provides!
CWL News
The CWL gathering will be held Tuesday
October 3rd at 7 pm following the 6:30 pm
mass. We will meet in the Great Room in
the lower level. Our guest speaker will be
Barbara Boles-Davis. She will share her
adventures and insights from the many missions she
has taken part in.
We will be kicking off our SOCTOBER campaign.
Throughout the month of October each council in our
Diocese will be collecting new mens, ladies, and
childrens socks as an extension of the Out of the
Cold program. Invite your family and friends to pitch
in and help us warm as many toes as possible!
Please bring the socks to the gathering!
