IMPROVING YEAR 5 PUPILS CREATIVE WRITING SKILLS USING

Abstract

This action research is aimed to investigate the effects of using daily letter
strategy in improving pupils creative writing skills. Besides that, it serves as
a purpose to inculcate pupils interest in writing and to determine the effect of
doing action research on improving teaching practice performance. The
respondents consisted of two Year 5 pupils from one of the SK school in
Kuching, Sarawak who are weak in structuring and organising idea in a form
of creative writing as seen from their previous mid-term exam results in Paper
Two. The data for this study were collected from various methods such as
interviews, diagnostic tests, observations, surveys, photos and pupils
achievement in tests during research. They have shown more interest and
are more creative in their writing. It can be concluded that the pupils involved
have improved in creative writing skills using daily letter strategy.
