Abandoned vehicle, caravan, boat, trailer
notified to Council via police, public or
colleague

Log details onto computer under

shortcut to ab vehs

Visit site to check if vehicle, caravan, boat or

trailer is there. If there take a photo

Check whether the car is road taxed or not. If caravan,

boat or trailer check if connected to road taxed vehicle

If vehicle, caravan, boat, or trailer is a If not road taxed or connected to a road taxed
wreck and deemed a public health vehicle return to office and check the DVLA site for
risk immediate lift further information

If information from DVLA shows the vehicle is not road
taxed but has a registered keeper return to site and
affix a notice given the registered keeper 24 hours to
have the vehicle removed or made road legal
Call A1 Autospare 01875 822677
authorising the uplift then send an email
Return to office and send a recorded delivery
to confirm this instruction. Keep in storage
letter to the last registered keeper
for 7 days. Keep copies for the file

has been uplifted then email FCC telling

disposal and update ab veh data
base. If claimed release vehicle
subject to full payment and
documentation being correct
Enquire with registered keeper how
he/she is collecting the vehicle and is
the vehicle road legal, road taxed
MoTd and insured. If none of the
above then the vehicle cannot be
returned unless being stored off road
Contact A1 Autospares to inform
them the owner of the vehicle,
caravan, boat or trailer will be calling
to the yard that day to collect the
vehicle and how they will be
collecting it e.g driving it away or
having it uplifted.
Update ab veh data base with all
relevant information

After 24 hours has elapsed return to site, if vehicle, caravan,
boat or trailer is still in situ authorise uplift by contacting A1
Autospares, follow this up by sending an email. Keep copies
Return to site the following day to ensure
the vehicle, caravan, boat or trailer has been
uplifted
Contact the local police and inform them the vehicle,
caravan, boat or trailer has been uplifted then email
the FCC. Keep copies
If the vehicle, caravan, boat or trailer is not

ab veh data base and release vehicle subject
to full payment being received and all
documentation being correct

collecting the vehicle, caravan, boat or trailer
and is the vehicle road legal, road taxed MoTd
and insured. If none of the above then the
vehicle cannot be returned unless being
uplifted on a flat bed or rigid tow and stored off
road
Contact A1 Autospares to inform them the
owner of the vehicle, caravan, boat or trailer
will be calling to the yard that day to collect
the vehicle and how they will be collecting it
e.g driving it away or having it uplifted.
