EAS 457/2 STRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGN

SEMESTER 1- 2017/2018

ASSIGNMENT

The layout of single storey house is given to all groups. Each group has been given a task
to design the single storey house which eventually will be selected for construction. The
group should be able to work in team and come up with innovative and creative ideas to
plan and arrange the structural elements, provide spaces as well as other necessary
facilities based upon the provided layout.

In this project, the group has a choice to arrange the required spaces based on suitability
and their creativity. All relevant loads for building must be in accordance with MS EN
1990: 2010 and MS EN 1991-1-1:2010.

1. Each group consists of four (4) members. Not more than 4.

2. Date of submission 21/12/2017 (Thursday) before 4.45pm at PPKAs Office.
3. All design calculations MUST be carried out manually using standard design
sheet.
4. Each group is encouraged to design using software such as Esteem, Stadd Pro. etc
but it is allowed for checking only.
5. Current Code of Practice, MS EN 1993-1-1: 2010 shall be used as code of
practice in the design.
6. Total mark of this project is 20%.
