MSE invites applications from qualified candidates with commitment to research and teaching at the post-graduate level
for faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Research Associate / Lecturer
specializing in any sub-discipline of Economics can apply but preference may be given to the following specializations:
(i) Corporate / Public Finance
(ii) Environment / Development / Health Economics
(ii) Industrial Economies
(iv) Intemational Economics
(v) Macroeconomics
Qualification:
Professor
Excellent academic record with Ph.D with at least 5 publications in refereed journals and ten years of teaching experience
at post-graduate level.
Associate Professor:
Good academic record with Ph.D. with at least 3 publications in refereed journals and 5 years of teaching experience at
post-graduate level
Assistant Professor;
Good academic record with Ph.D. with at least one refereed publication,
Research Associate / Lecture!
Good academic record with Ph.D. or submission of Ph.D. thesis
Basic Pay Scales
@ Professor:
Pay band: Rs. 37400 - Rs. 67000
‘AGP*-Rs. 11000
(i) Assistant Professor:
Pay band: Rs. 15600 Rs. 39100
AGP’ - Rs. 6600
(ii) Associate Professor:
Pay band: Rs, 24600 — Rs. 39100
AGP*- Rs. 10000
For all above, the following are applicable:
(HRA: 30% (of basic pay = pay plus AGP)
TA: Rs, 1800
DA: 136% (of basic pay plus TA)
(iv) EFP: 12% of basic pay.
(V) Medical Reimbursement of Rs. 12,500/- per annum
* AGP: Academic Grade Pay
Note: After the implementation of UGC 7” Pay recommendation, the scales will be revised suitably.
For Research Associate / Lecturer, suitable remuneration (consolidated) will be paid along with EPF and Medical
Allowance as per MSE rules,
In addition, performance-linked payments and facilities are provided through provisions for undertaking consultancy
assignments and Academic Development Fund subject to MSE rules. .
Madras School of Economics may consider suitable candidates who may not have applied. Faculty members who may be
