Petroleum demand in the South East Asia region has
been growing steadily. Oiltanking, one of the worlds leading independent oil storage companies has chosen the island of Karimun in Indonesia to construct a tank storage terminal. This will cater to the increasing sto- rage needs particularly of the Singapore trading area.
Description of Work:
To reduce the settlement of the tank storage during
its service life, Keller improved the soil in the area u- sing the Vibro replacement method. This method uses Stone columns to reinforce the existing soil.
Using the wet method, 108,000 linear meters of Stone
column having diameter of 1 m was constructed to a depth of 25 m. A total of 30 tank foundations that ranged from 20 m to 61.8 m in diameters were built.
