The Navys first atomic powered submarine
1955
The creators were the department of defense,
department of the navy and the naval
photographic center.
The final construction was completed in
1955.
Nautilus continued to be used to investigate
the effects of increased submerged speeds
and endurance.
North Korea H Bomb 1956

In May 1956, the stem of a hydrogen


bomb,the first such nuclear device dropped
from a U.S. aircraft, moves upward through a
heavy cloud comes through the top of the
cloud, after the bomb was detonated over
Namu Island in the Bikini Atoll,Marshall
Islands.
North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho

requiring that employers pay all employees equally for equal
work, regardless of whether the employees are male or
female.
Civil Rights Act of
1964
This law protection against discrimination
with regard to employment.
Employers could no longer refuse to hire
someone based on race,color,nation of
origin and sex/gender.
Employment discrimination was common
prior to this due to the fact that it wasnt
illegal to do so.
1965
Voting Rights Act of 1965

The Voting Rights Act of 1995 prohibits the denial or


restriction of the right to vote, and forbids discriminatory
voting practices nationwide.

Beginning as a community-wide reaction to the arrest of


three African-Americans in central Los Angeles, the Watts
Riots continue for six days and is a key precursor to the
"Black Power" movement of the late 1960's.
