Encores Mission Statement: The mission of Encore Jr/Sr High School for the Performing and

Attendance: Your attendance is critical to your learning process. Absences affect not only your
academic performance but negatively affect your ability to perform in your arts activities.

Course Description: This course covers the relationship between functions and structures of the
human body. This is a lab-based science course that covers the mechanisms for maintaining
homeostasis within the human body.
Grading Policy:
Block scheduling and daily tutoring time ensures that every student can succeed. There should be
NO reason that you as a student cannot get your class work and homework finished in the time
allotted. If you are having trouble, you need to speak up and request help from the teacher of the
subject in which you are having problems. Class time for homework and the time allotted for
tutoring should be used for exactly that, studying.
Materials Needed: to 1 binder, color pencils, pencils or pen (blue or black only)
Films: Throughout the year, various teaching and learning strategies will be used in the
classroom to help your student best understand the curricula. Sometimes this will involve
creating projects, reading novels, and/or watching a film clip. Below is a list of films/educational
series might be used in class. This is not an all-inclusive list; others may be added as new
material is made available. All films/clips are used solely for the purpose of aiding your students'

comprehension in the learning process.
Projects:
Late work: refers to assignments that students were present to receive, and did not complete on
the due date.
High School
Students may turn in late work, not turned in during that week (Tues Mon), through the
end of the school day on Tuesday @ 3:30pm. This work will be accepted for up to half
credit. At the end of each Tuesday school day, any missing work for the previous week
will receive a zero.
If they attend tutoring in this subject, they will only be deducted 25% of
their overall score. (75% credit)
If a student is absent on the due date, the assignment is due the next day the student is
present for class.
Absent Work: refers to new assignments given during an excused absent. Students are
accountable for locating absent work and turning in the assignments within 1 week. If the work
is not turned in after 1 week, it becomes late work.
