Nurses are required to record patients medical histories and symptoms. After doing so,

they need to administer any medications that are required for that specific patient. They need to

observe the patients after administration and record their observations. Nurses need to consult

and discuss the patients with doctors and other healthcare professionals that require the

information they have. The nurses help patients learn how to take care of their illnesses and/or

Registered nurses have a job that involves a high level of social interactions. They work

with and care for patients. Regardless of the situation, the nurse is responsible for the patients

There are about 70,000 people working as a registered nurse in Missouri. Throughout the

Related Occupations

Dental hygienists, EMTs, paramedics, licensed practical nurses, licensed vocational

nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are all related occupations to being a

registered nurse. These occupations are related to one another simply by the career cluster they

are in; health science. All of these occupations consist of helping people medically in some way.

Justification

According to Missouri Connections, the best matching career cluster for me is Health

Science. Inside the Health Science career cluster, it ranges from surgeons to nurses to

technicians. Also according to Missouri Connections, my interest profiler put me in the social

category. In this category, it states that a social person is quick at problem solving, good with

words, and should work to help other people. Out of the listed occupations for a student

interested in the health science department, I feel as though I am most qualified for being a

Registered Nurse. These nurses have a high level of social contact, care for patients,

communicate clearly, and quickly compare results and problem solve. With all of the skills and

abilities needed for this job, I feel as though I am equipped with all of them.
