Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU)

1. On Friday we visited Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, British Columbia.

2. It is unique that this is the only polytechnic university in Canada.
3. There are multiple programs that are offered in this program, which include: Academic &
Career Advancement, Arts, Business, Design, Health, Science & Agriculture, and Trades
& Technology.
4. The application deadline to apply is March 1st, 2018.
5. You can check your application status on the website named www.kpu.ca/oss
6. You can register by going online and visiting the website :
https://apply.educationplannerbc.ca/apply/complete-application/kpu
7. Once you get accepted to the university, they will direct you to an online website. On the
website, there will be a list of courses that will show what is mandatory to be taken. Then
you will be to easily apply for the courses through the website.
8. 35 are the maximum amount of students allowed in a classroom. The average amount is
around 28-30 students.
9. The university offers academic advisors that can provide academic advice for courses,
course help, etc.
10. The best places to study on campus are in the library or Grassroots caf.
11. This campus doesnt offer residence for students.
12. For athletics and clubs, you will have to the KSA (Kwantlen Students Association). They
are the ones who volunteer their time to offer the athletics and clubs. For getting involved
with the societies, the office by the gym will guide you on how to get involved.
13. The thing that surprised me about this program, is that this university has a there
buildings named after trees. For example, Building A is named Arbutus which shows that
there buildings around the campus have unique names.
14. I liked the library on the campus because it wasnt very packed, but it was very spacious.
It was very modern and had a lot of light for a positive feel when studying. In the library
there were studying rooms that any KPU student has the chance to book.
15. I didnt like the feel to the university. It was the same size as a high school and it wasnt very
spacious. Also, it almost felt like it was the same as a high school because there were lockers in
the hallways.
16. The campus tour was 1 hour.
17. No, I will not apply to this Campus.

University of British Columbia (UBC)

1. On Friday we visited the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia.

2. It is unique that there are 63,000 people that live on the University of British Columbia.
3. The programs that UBC offers is Technology, Math & Engineering, Health Sciences,
People & Society, History & Cultural Studies, Earth, Environment & Sustainability,
Chemistry & Life Sciences, Creative Arts & Life Sciences, Creative Arts & Media,
Business, Economics & Law, Languages & Linguistics, Physics & Astronomy and

5. You are able to check your application status by going to www.ssc.adm.ubc.ca
6. If you get accepted in April, you register your classes at the end of June/ beginning of
July.
7. The class requirements are on the faculty website.
8. The smallest class size is 30 students and can be up to 500 people for big lectures. On
average it is around 200-300 students per class.
9. The undergraduate office is always open for drop in and appointments to give students
advice and help with their classes.
10. The best places to study on campus can be in a library, in a caf, study rooms, in the
outside of a yoga studio and in empty classrooms.
11. This campus does offer residence for students.
12. If you go to the gym, you will have to go to the front desk and talk with a worker. They
let you know all about athletics, clubs and societies. You can also follow the UBC club
page on Twitter and they provide anyone with a lot of information.
13. It surprised me that there is an Asian centre for international students. It is like a library
where those international students can go there to study and get help.
14. I liked the atmosphere of UBC because it had many tall and brand new buildings. There
was lots of room for students to study and to hang out. For example, the Nest was my
favourite part because they designed it with students opinions. They had multiple food
choices, 5 floors, and a beautiful view from the top.
15. I didnt like how the residence buildings are very far out from the classrooms. An
example is, it was a very long walk going from the Sauder School of Business to Vanier.
16. The tour was approximately 2 hours long.
17. I would defiantly apply to this campus.
