Curtin Villa is another of Curtin Sarawak's student housing areas. It is

located 3 kilometres from campus and consists of 60 terrace-type
houses. Its features include:

? Consists of intermediate units for 8 residents with 6 bedrooms, 4
bathrooms, two kitchens and a living cum dining room, and corner

Introduction
This course involves the contextual study of the
theory, history, ethics, criticism and practice of
media, information, and new communication
technologies. It combines scholarly academic
study, critical and analytical thinking, professional
conduct, creativity and practical hands-on skills,
and contains a mix of theoretical and creative units
with an emphasis on the development of practical
and creative skills, and of critical understanding,
leading to the production of corporate videos,
documentaries, TV commercials and music
videos.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Applicants are required to meet the University's
minimum level of entry. Credits towards a Curtin
qualification may be granted to applicants with
qualifications from other accredited educational
institutions, including colleges, polytechnics and
universities. Each application is assessed on a
case-by-case basis, and applicants should note
that credit for previous studies is not automatic.
Advance standing forms are available from
www.curtin.edu.my. Forms are to be completed
and submitted along with copies of examination
results or transcripts to the Registrar's Office by
the required due date.
In addition to the University's general admission

Course Structure
There are four equal sections to be completed - a
core component, a first stream, a second stream

associated with media, communication and

The Film and Television - Corporate
Production stream introduces students to the
concepts and practical skills relevant to
corporate video production. By means of video
production exercises and projects, this stream
provides students with the opportunity to use
video production technologies, and to
understand the processes (such as research,
planning, recording and editing) associated with
corporate video production.
The Marketing stream introduces the key skills
and knowledge needed for successful
marketing. It provides students with an
understanding of how marketing works and of
consumer behaviour, as well as the opportunity
for in-depth study of specific aspects of
marketing.
The Public Relations stream develops an
understanding of the fundamentals of
professional public relations practice. It provides
students with skills and knowledge in the
principles, techniques and specific issues of
contemporary public relations.
Journalism as General Elective units:
Students have the option of enrolling in three

News and Photo Journalism - as general
electives. Introduction to Print lays the
foundations for student to write publishable
news reports and equips them with skills and

journalism. Print News provides the opportunity
for first-hand experience in the print news
