What do Nganmarriyanga children already know about their culture? What to Nganmarriyanga children already know about who we are?
Nganmarriyanga children know how to speak their language Murrinh-patha,
however they know little about how to recognise and Murrinh-patha words. They know about bush tucker, dreaming stories and can speak their language.
Nganmarriyanga children have been exposed to and participated in hunting
and exploring and collecting bush tucker. They have heard stories passed
down from their elders and books in the school library.
How do Grade 1/2 and 5/6 best learn?
How do Grade 1/2and 5/6 learn best? Lots of support from adults and hand-on activities.
Grade 1/2 and 5/6 need a predictable routine of set tasks, a high level of
support with a reward at the end. Hands on activities using pictures and
media including videos and pictures.

Assessment Tasks
Summative Assessment:
In groups, students produce one page of a book describing various local short stories.
The book must include:
Photograph or drawing
Paragraph in English
Paragraph in Murrinh-patha
Group names
Formative Assessment:
Weekly book work/activities.
Anecdotal notes and observations
