Nowadays, immigrants are existing in every countries around the world. Immigrants are
the people who comes to live in a foreign country for a reason or purpose. They can be a
good citizen who follows rules, laws and regulations of the country they chose to live in
or they can also be, a terrorist who are using violent acts to frighten the people in a specific
area.
Last May, the issue of a terrorist attack arose in the Philippines. Bomb blast have rocked
Marawi City in the Southern Philippines as national flag was raised to mark Independence
Day, almost three weeks after hundreds of Islamist militants overran the town and
stooped down with civilians as human shields. I have read the news about Philippine army
launches attacks against ISIS-linked terrorist group. Violence erupted in the restive
southern province of Mindanao. The Philippine army sent in tanks and launched airstrikes
against the members of the Islamic State-linked Maute group in the city of Marawi.
In the New York Times news, Islamic State-linked Maute group began when President
Rodrigo Duterte was bragging about his brutal war on drugs, the Islamic State was
associating its sway over Islamist rebel groups on the island of Mindanao. The extent to
which ISIS has succeeded is now alarmingly evident, as a pitched battle between
Philippine troops and Islamist militants for control of the largely Muslim city of Marawi.
With the presence of the foreign fighters, including Malaysians and Indonesians, who are
working alongside militant leaders with strong ties to ISIS. President Duterte has a serious
problem on his hands that threatens the security of the entire region. Then President
Duterte thought of seriously bringing back the Martial Law only in Mindanao just to stop
the terrorism act of Maute group. The White House also condemned the violence by
militants linked to the Islamic State, also known as ISIS. Cowardly terrorist killed
Philippine law enforcement officials and endangered the lives of innocent citizens. The
White house said in a statement The U.S vowed to provide support assistance to
Philippine counter-terrorism effort as a proud ally of the Philippines.
The Islamic State-linked Maute group is one of the example of a terrorist who came to a
country for a purpose. They are considered illegal immigrants who lives in another country
when they do not have the legal right to do so. Illegal immigration is very evident to every
countries around the world. It is the act of living in a country without government
permission or they havent made a documentations to migrate. These people are called
terrorist if they do not have legal documentation of their immigration in another country.
Asking why do people immigrate? Its because when immigrants start to go or live in
another country they have roles or purpose to consider, to find a shelter, to create a family,
to find job or to travel or just a vacation. Immigrants went to a specific country to build a
shelter for themselves or to create a family there and to have a job that will support their
family expenses. Some immigrants in another countries are just in vacation or temporarily
stays just for travelling and adventures. When immigrants are already in the country they
have immigrated, they also have plans, its either for themselves or for other people. If
they live in another country for themselves, they wanted a new home. Every people
wanted to start with a new home to build a shelter for their family. They wanted to meet
new people in their lives, to communicate and to learn new things with and also, for new
experiences. People get easily bored with their lives. They are trying to learn and explore
new things for a new life experiences. People immigrate to another country for others as
well. For them to help the economy when it comes to business or a job and to contribute
to the society when it comes to helping other people to provide job for them or anything
that will help the society.
Filipinos are one of the common immigrants in the world because some Filipinos are
looking for a higher salary or income to provide for their families. Filipinos are wishing to
stand up against poverty and to become rich in other countries to be able to buy
everything they want. Filipino immigrants constitute one of the largest foreign-born
groups in the United States. Since 1990, the Philippines has been consistently among the
top 5 countries of origin and was 4th largest in 2013. Today, most Filipino immigrants in
the United States obtain lawful permanent residence (LPR) also known as receiving
green card, through family reunification channels, either as immediate relatives of U.S.
citizens or as other family-sponsored immigrants. Many people also receive LPR status
through employment-based channels.
I have a friend who is now living in Canada, his name is Kyle Joshua Andres. He
immigrated in Canada year 2014 together with his family and he continued his studies
there. I remember he told us that he is moving to Canada to follow his father who is
working in Canada. His father arranged all the things and papers for them to be able to
be with him completely. After two years they went back here in the Philippines for vacation
and he met us and treat us in a restaurant. After a few weeks he returned to Canada and
we will meet again after another two years.
I also had a friend I met her when we are grade 8 her name was Ivory Angeles. She
immigrated in Georgia year 2015 she went there because her whole family live there
and she was the only one who was left here in the Philippines with her grandmother.
Shell be back this year and I dont know exactly when. Her father was also the one who
is in charge to arrange the papers needed for her to be able to be with them. She also
continued her studies there and met new found friends.
There are also people who migrates in different country to reside and still desires to
migrate to another country they are called emigrants. They are the people who leaves a
country or region to live in another one. These people can be considered as rich
individuals who are using their money for migrating in different countries. Also they can
be considered as a terrorist who are making violent acts or hiding in different countries so
that they will not be caught.
Immigrate and emigrate are two words that have similar meanings and can be easily
confused. The differences between immigrants and emigrants are the people who enter
and settle in a foreign country, leaving the past home. While emigrants, the people who
leaves one country or region to settle in another. Emigrating is a long process if you have
incomplete legal documents so better arranged all the things before planning to emigrate
in another country.
Being able to move in different countries is a privilege to be a good citizen of that chosen
country. We should be able to do are roles and responsibility as a good citizen who follows
rule and regulations of the certain country. To avoid circumstances, we should provide
legal documentations of immigrating so that we will not be considered as terrorist.
