TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION METHOD

FJ method
A tunnel is construction by pulling a
box culvert ( undercrossing railway /
road bank ).
A box culvert having a cutting edge
on the front side is pulled into place W.21.6mH.7.9mL.16.8m
by PC strands and hydraulic jacks.
Generally the pipe roof is inserted
to prevent ground deformation during
insertion of box tunnel.
Therefore , surrounding ground is less
affected with this construction method.

TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION METHOD
ESA method
This method enable to construct a
long-distance underpass tunnel.
Multiple box culverts connected by
strands and hydraulic jacks in the
advancing direction can be inserted
all together (like a measuring worms).
Box culvert connected each other
withstands thrust forces to push each
box culvert forward.
Back/front wall is not required to pull

TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION METHOD

R&C method
In this construction method, box
roofs are first inserted into ground,
and next these roofs are replaced by
a box culvert.
This method is suitable for shallow
earth cover.
W.16.9mH.7.57mL.11.0m
Utilization of friction cut (FC) plates with
this method does not disturb operations
of railway traffic and road traffic.

TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION METHOD

SFT method
Similar to R&C method, box roofs
are first inserted into ground, and
next these roofs are replaced by a box
culvert. This method is also suitable
for shallow earth cover. W.25.0mH.7.70mL.8.5m
Utilization of FC plates in this method
lead no disturbance of railway traffic
and road traffic operation.
In this construction method, both
steel pipes and soils enclosed within
steel pipes are replaced by a box
culvert. W.18.5mH.6.9mL.14.0m

TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION METHOD

Push the box roof and box culvert together.

Friction cut plates are left into ground.15

By pushing the box culvert, box pipes and soils enclosed
within box pipes are pushed out to the arrival side.
