Bubble memory has become obsolete, OCJ/ Hitachi can no longer repair or replace Bubble
Memory. Board repair has exhausted Bubble Memory stock in some cases. As a replacement,
Okuma Japan has developed CMOS Memory to replace Bubble. Please review the below
information when inquiring for replacement boards:
The U number consists of the C-Mos Memory Board (Part numbers) A911-1511, 1512,
1513, 1514 and a Battery Indication Card (A911-1515), there is also a label included to note
the CMOS installation date on the CPU Rack for battery life reference.

installation of exchanged components. Please contact your local distributor if you experience problems with
this installation. After installation, fax this top sheet to Okuma America Corp. at (704) 587-1799 with your
comments for improvements. This exchanged component is under warranty for 90 days. Also return the
defective parts within 30 days or full price will be charged.

Symptomatic Reasons For Replacement: CPU alarms with access address for Main Board. Upgrade
replacement for Bubble Memory. Options installations requiring additional memory.
Key Points: There are switch settings on each card. Each CCOP (which is the control card for FOPT
card) can handle up to 4 FOPT cards. To select 1-4 FOPT cards please follow switch settings below:

NOTE: Once you get level 1 alarm, you can move the jumper over to the left (3 side) and the machine should
operate for a few more weeks until the battery charge gets too low then a level 2 alarm will be triggered. Once
the battery is replaced remember to place the jumper back to the right (1 side). SW2 is only used on the
CMOS version cards 1.0 and 1.1 version.
Installation Instructions:
1. Use Data Pip or floppy D to create a backup disk for all parameter data if possible. All parameter data
will be lost when replacing the CMOS Memory Card.
2. Turn off the NC Power and Main Circuit Breaker. Lock-out the machine breaker.
3. Open the OSP cabinet to provide access to the OPUS.
4. Locate and remove the card.
5. Please ensure switch settings match card replaced.
6. Carefully install new card.
7. Reconnect the wiring. Remove lock-out tag.
8. Turn on main circuit breaker and Power-On the control. Test the replaced component.
9. Reload system software and back-up disk.
