The following is supposedly a very effective parihara for those suffering from calamities
of any kind, made to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar!

When to recite: Sundays, during Rahu Kalam (4:30 PM - 6:00 PM)

How many times to recite: 21, 51 or 108 times, as can be possible.

How many weeks: 11 consequetive weeks.

What to recite: The short sloka:

Ugram Veeram Mahavishnum


Jwalantham Sarvathomukham
Nrusimham Bheeshanam Badram
Mrityu Mrityum Namamyaham ||

What for naivedyam: Panakam, and milk with kalkandu.

Other: Please light a ghee lamp for Narasimhar.

An Introduction
This stotram forms a part of the Skanda PurANam. It is documented as
being taught by Sage Sanath Kumara to twelve other sages.

Another Maha Lakshmi Sahasranamam is found in The Brahma PurANam


in the passage with the description of Kashmir in the chapter on HiraNya
Garbha Hrudaya.

The 1008 names of Lakshmi Devi are given below with their meanings. The
phala struti (the merits of reciting these 1008 names) will follow on the
completion of the Lakshmi sahasra nAma.

auspiciousness on all of us.

1. NithyAgatha = She who keeps on travelling

2. Anantha nithyA = She who is endless and exists forever

3. Nandini = She who gives happiness. She who was the daughter of Nandagopa

4. Jana ranjanee = She who makes everybody happy

5. Nithya Prakasini = She who shines permanently

6. SwaprakAsa swaroopiNee = She who shines with her own ilumination

7. MahA Lakshmi = She who is the great Lakshmi

8. MahA KALi = She who is the great Goddess KALi . She who is jet black in colour.

9. MahA KanyA = She who is the great virgin

10. Saraswati = She who is the Goddess Saraswati

11. BhOga vaibhava sandhAthree = She who bestows on us pleasure and wealth

12. BhkthAnugraha kArinee = She who blesses her devotees

13. EesAvAsyA = She who pervades everywhere

14. MahAmAyA = She who is the great enchantress

15. MahAdEvee = She who is the great goddess

16. MahEswari = She who is the consort of Lord MahEswara.

18. ParamA = She who is the greatest

19. Shakti = She who is the source of all power
