The Occurrence of Asphixia Neonatorum in RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo
Purwokerto

ABSTRACT

Research Background: Based on the preliminary study in RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono
Soekarjo Purwokerto, There occurrence of preeclampsia on delivering Mothers in
2012 was still high to 10% and the occurrence of eclampsia on delivering Mothers
was as 1,2 % while the occurrence of Asphixia Neonatorum was 8,6%. The purpose
of this research was to analyze whether preeclampsia and eclampsia on delivering
Mothers correlated to the occurrence of Asphixia Neonatorum.
Method: This research used survey method by using case control approach.
Research location was in RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. The
population of this research was 5.583 delivering in RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo
Purwokerto in 2012. Total sample taken 98 respondents who fulfill certain criteria.
Data collecting was conducted in medical record room by using frequency
distribution table and Chi Square test. Univariate and Bivariate analysis were
employed in data analyses and Chi Square test was used for statistical test.
Result: This research obtained p-value= 0,026 < 0,05, with X2 count value 4,957 and
the Odds Ratio for the correlation between eclampsia and the occurrence of
asphixia neonatorum was 2,729 times. There was correlation between preeclampsia
and the occurrence of asphixia neonatorum and also was correlation between
eclampsia and the occurrence of asphixia neonatorum. Mothers experiencing
eclampsia risked 2729 times bigger in delivering baby with asphixia compared to
those who were not experiencing eclampsia.
