 INTRODUCTION

Below is the development of the activity regarding delivery time and means of
transportation of physical distribution of a product.

For this example, the products associated with the company GERDAU DIACO COLOMBIA,
which describes the means of transportation used for the delivery of its products and raw
materials from customers within the country as an export type, are taken as a basis.

Lead Time Means of Transport

In Colombia, Gerdau Diaco produces long carbon steels. It has a wide line of products for
the sectors of civil construction and industry.
The transport system used is the motorway and river.
The highway system, is the most used, since it presents great flexibility in delivery of
merchandise to various places in the country.
There is a wide variety of vehicle equipment of 10, 17, 32 and 34 tons to be transported.
The delivery is fast according to the distance that the customers are.
The fluvial is used to certain sectors where there are no terrestrial access ways, its
capacity is greater than that of other means of transport.
The rates are cheap, but somewhat slow, because several transshipments of the
merchandise must be made.

product.
 CONCLUSIONS

Through the exercise identified the different types of transport used by the company for
the physical distribution of its products within the country as the products that are
exporting.

It was possible to differentiate two types of transport used by the company, both land and
river transport, identifying the costs and times of the product to reach the final customer.
