AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

Analysis of bridges for assessment or design;

Construction supervision of infrastructure projects (Precast-Prestressed concrete bridges, cast-in-situ
underpasses, pile walls, retaining walls, culverts, drainage ditches, irrigation siphon tubes,
earthworks);
Inspection of bridges, including special structural elements (bearings, expansion joints, Fluid Viscous
Dampers, Shock Transmission Units, Post tensioning);
Supervision of jacking and lifting works.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

September 2016 - SKANSKA UK Plc (http://www.skanska.co.uk/)

Today Structures Engineer
Areas of responsibility:
Develop the design, supervise the production of models and drawings and
prepare specifications and contract documentation to enable construction to
take place along with other members of the team;
Provide design support throughout the construction process;
Undertake detailed design or assessment work including calculations and
structural analysis in line with relevant standards and codes of practice;
Carry out Inspections of existing structures or of structures being constructed
In line with established codes of practice.
Challenge the design process to identify innovations or improve upon
traditional methods and bring efficiencies for the client.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (CONTINUED)

October 2014 Associate at METKA S.A. (www.metka.com)

July 2016
Construction Site Engineer
Areas of responsibility:
Check of the design drawings and reports for the following:
Geometrical mismatches between the drawings;
Constructability;
Conflict with adjacent structures;
Discrepancies between drawings and budget;
Missing details drawings;
Insufficiency of proposed works or structures (at drainage and irrigation works
design, temporary retaining structures);
Faulty construction sequence.
Propose solutions for the above as:
Geometrical corrections (or reinforcement correction in relevant cases);
Alternative design (taking into account the available equipment);
Plan or profile correction of structures;
Design of new details or find appropriate detail from similar structures;
Preliminary design of drainage works;
Alternative or additional irrigation works in cooperation with the local
authorities.
Construction works planning, including:
Co-operation with the construction manager regarding the long-term project
schedule;
Weekly and daily planning for the companys personnel, equipment and
subcontractors;
Putting orders for the required materials.
Supervision of construction works and earthworks focusing on:
Constructing in accordance with the relevant drawings and specifications;

including:
Preliminary site visit and cost estimation for the project;
Preparation of work method statement and schedule;
Coordination of the inspection works;
Preparation of the final inspection report.
Maintenance works including expansion joints repair or replacement, bridge
jacking for bearing replacement. Additional to the responsibilities described for
the inspection works were the following:
Preliminary finite element analysis of the bridge to determine the jacking
forces for the bearing replacement;
Materials and equipment requirements estimation;
Traffic arrangement according to the Greek legislation.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (CONTINUED)

Estimation of quantities for bridge special equipment (post-tensioning,

structural bearings, expansion joints, anti-seismic devices, mechanical
couplers, etc.), for over 400 structures:
Choosing the equivalent product from the companys range to comply with the
design and regulations;
Checking possible construction issues that might arise (lack of space,
replaceability, nominal gap for expansion joints, bearing plate and spiral
reinforcement size).
Proposing changes that lead to higher profit margins for both the company
and the client (different post-tensioning and construction sequence, different
type of expansion joint);
Preparation of post-tensioning reports and calculation sheets for bearings and
expansion joints.
Provide technical assistance to designers and constructors
Provide information to designers and constructors about the latest products
available in the market;
Assist designers to make the correct choice among the numerous products;
