Geography Country Project Europe

Project gives you the opportunity to explore countries and concepts we have learned to research one country
more in depth. The country project will consist of the following required components and questions:

You are a travel agent whose job is to present on a country weve discussed in class. Your task is to create a
presentation and research paper that would serve as a promotion for the country you choose to attract tourists or
business investment.

The presentation must include the following list of components:

1. A title which introduces your country with images of the flag of your nation and country.
2. One section of your presentation should be dedicated to the history of your country. Elements in this
historical presentation should include:
a. Timeline of significant events that took place in or shaped your countrys history.
b. Identify important current and historical figures associated with your country.
c. Identify locations of historical significance that tourists will want to visit.
d. You should highlight these items with visuals.
3. Sections providing descriptions both written and visual of the cultural aspects of your country.
These sections should show/discuss: major religions, politics/government, food, ethnicity, and
any special clothing/holidays/practices/etc. You should approach this information as providing a
pleasant description of your countrys culture to foreigners.
4. A map of your country which presents major physical (mountains, rivers, etc.) and political
(boundaries with neighboring nations, cities) features of your nation (can be two separate maps if
necessary). You should also highlight locations fit for tourism with visual tools.
5. The presentation should take the form of a Power Point presentation or a travel brochure. Make sure
you include plenty of visual aids to make your country as attractive as possible.
6. EXTRA CREDIT if you prepare food that the people would typically eat in your country and bring
it in to share with the class.

The research paper must include the following list of components:

1. Write a typed 2-page (one page, front and back) paper about your country using the 5 themes of
geography as a frame work.
a. Location should include both relative and exact.
b. Place what are the physical features in your country? What are the human features of your
country? Include: descriptions of the political and economic systems in the country, what are
the major religions and languages in your country?
c. Interaction what is the relationship between the people and the environment? Include the
natural resources of the country and what environmental problems may exist.
d. Movement What are the major imports and exports of the country? Is there a lot of
migration of people away from the country or a lot of people coming to the country? Why?
e. Region what region of Europe is your country found in? Are there regions within your
country with different cultures and languages? What geographic differences exist?
2. Works Cited formatted in MLA that cites all sources you used for your presentation and paper.
Your textbook doesnt count. You must use at least 4 sources.
