Washer-head
Washer head screws have a washer formed onto their head to increase the screw's holding ability. This added bearing area is
required when used with some thinner materials. Washer-head screws are made of cadmium-plated high-strength steel.

h. Round, CSK oval, truss and 100 degree CSK self tapping

Self-tapping screws have coarse-threads and are used to hold thin sheets of metal, plastic, or plywood together. The type A
screw has a gimlet (sharp) point, and the type B has a blunt point with threads that are slightly finer than those of a type A
screw. There are four types of heads available on self-tapping screws: a round head, a truss head, a countersunk head, which is
flat on top, and the countersunk oval screw. The truss-head is rounded, similar to the round head screw, but is considerably
thinner.

i. Drive

Drive screws are permanent, hammer driven fasteners for joining metals and plastics. They require a pre-drilled hole for
installation and are often used to fasten castings.

j. Wood

Wood screws are a metal screw with a sharp point designed to attach two pieces of wood together. Wood screws are commonly
available with flat, pan or oval-heads. A wood screw generally has a partially unthreaded shank below the head. The unthreaded
portion of the shank is designed to slide through the top board (closest to the screw head) so that it can be pulled tight to the
board to which it is being attached.

b. Clevis

Clevis or flat-head (MS20392) pins are used for hinge pins in some aircraft control systems. They are made of cadmium-plated
steel and have grip lengths in 1/16 inch increments. When installing a clevis pin place the head in the up position, place a plain
washer over the opposite end, and insert a cotter pin through the hole to lock the pin in place. Commonly used with tie rod
terminals and in secondary controls which are not subject to continuous operation. The pin is customarily installed with the
head up so that if the cotter pin fails or works out, the pin will remain in place.
