What to look for:


Greetings: kind words, positive voice (tone and volume), friendliness
Gestures: Eye contact, body facing toward speaker during conversation, happy or smiling facial expression, gestures with
hands/arms are purposeful to conversation
Compliments: thoughtful praise, positive language and gestures when delivering compliment
Manners: Use of common terms taught such as, please, thank you, excuse me, and offer apologies or check on well-
being as necessary (ex. saying are you okay? if they tripped someone)
Taking turns/sharing: Use of polite language to ask for a turn or item (ex. Can I please have, or may I), positive body
language (polite expression, gentle hands, eye contact)
Active Listening/Conflict Resolution: Demonstrates empathy, uses problem-solving skills, attentive to the speaker, offers
possible solutions appropriate to situation
