tobeginwith,gainedthesuffragesofsome,willthereupongatherthoseofmany.The

Suchideasseemabsurdtous.Oursmayseemequallyabsurdintwohundredyears.
Forafterall,onecannotrankamidtheeternalveritiestheperceptionthatHomeris
primitiveandthatprimitivebarbarismisadmirable.Thereisnotasingleopinionin
literaturewhichonecannoteasilyfightwithitspreciseopposite.Who,then,willbe
abletoendthedisputesofthefluteplayers?
